joh21m
Hi, I'm having problems with my front suspension/steering (makes a grinding noise if i turn the wheel left and sounds clunky over bumps) anyone know what it might be? Can anyone recommend a place for me to go and get this sorted out...(Sydney) Does anyone know if UAS deals with these sort of problems? Thanks, Joh Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/56209-suspensionsteering-problems/ Share on other sites
Duncan
griding noise when you turn left? sounds like it might be the right front wheel bearing. How many klm has the car done? really? Clunky over bumps on the other hand could be something else loose in the front suspension, like the strut itself. Im sure any reputable import workshop like UAS could sort it out. Craved
sounds pretty much right there Duncan.. but is only when you turn left? the wheel bearing would cause a noise at any point on the wheels travel... or at least when under load on BOTH left and right... someonestolecc
I had a grinding when i turned right and it turned out it was the right wheel bearing - had to get a new hub. Still trying to work out the other grinds, rattles, bumps etc Any local mechanic should know what they're doing too, or even a suspension place. Craved
it could have been dirty or grit could have made it into the hub therefore wearing out the bearings.. is there must grease around the bearing on the outside? seal might have gone and it dried out a bit and lost its lubrication.. i've only ever had an issue with a wheel bearing on an HQ race car... so the heat etc made that fail..
