Dude - it's easy. A bit messy but easy. I did mine last weekend took like an hour.

You need a big shifter though to get the big four sided nuts off - I had to take my control arm thingies right out and put the whole HICAS gearbox and motor in a vice , then used stiltzen (sp) to get these off.

Get a wheel alignment straight after !

If you get the one from Skylinegeoff, good instructions come with it !

Cheers,

I take it you went the skylinegeoff bar route? I've been trying to chose between Skygeoffs bar, or the tomei hicas lock kit (washers and controller method) for when the GTR lands.

Impart some wisdom on me brother... what are the pros and cons of your set-up?

Hmm... I'll have a look at it cause you make it sound so easy!

Greenline list:

TOMEI HICAS Lock

Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR32 (RB26-DETT)

Not that it means for sure there is BNR32 version, but I can't see why it would be different.

Richard

Yeah the car on that site is a 32GTST M. So I'm pretty sure it would work on a BNR32 also.

Still curious to know the pros and cons of bar vs tomei kit.

Richard

My understanding is that the benefits of the Tomei kit are essentially that it requires minimum modification and disables any HICAS warnings.

By contrast, a manual removal is somewhat more involved but you get the benefit of weight reductions. You will still get the HICAS error light though :P

Oh, and I wouldn't be suprised if the R32 and R33 Tomei kits are different since HICAS is hydraulic on the R32 and electronic on the R33.

The other option is to try and source a complete subframe without HICAS. Apparently they exist, but I have never heard of anyone installing on in a GT-R.

B-man: what are you driving impressions?

Lucien.
