Red Alert :: Petrol Shortage

When I filled up with ultimate yesterday I noticed they were out of the 95ron premium. Perhaps that's optimax?

There is only 2 refineries in sydney kurnel ( caltex ) and Clyde ( Shell ) .

bp and shell come from the same place , Clyde , the reason no bp or shell around .

caltex only just starting to produce 98 octane so only some of their service stations would have it , go on their website to find out where .

I know some media said that the problem was kurnel but they got their refineries mixed up the problem is with clyde some maintence problem .

Some bp and shell servos may still have some 98 , the ones that dont sell much .

I got some bp ultimate yesterday and my car will ping in i push it hard ( probably old stock or mixed with 91 octane ) so be very carefull , you can easyly blow your engine !!

On saturday in Melbourne i went to 4 Shell petrol stations, none of them had optimax available until the 24/11/04. Couldnt find a BP, so had to put 91RON petrol in the car as the petrol light had been on for a while. Chucked in a bit of octane booster, drove around carefully but was still worried.

Managed to finally find a BP and some good old 98RON Ultimate. Pain in the arse.

All the BP's in my area seem to be fine for Ultimate as i picked up some on Friday & some this morning in differnt suburbs. I never check for Optimax.

Over the weekend I could not find a single petrol station with high octane fuel. And I was driving everywhere from the north shore, to western sydney, castle hill etc.

I checked BP, Shell, Caltex, Mobil - none, zip, nadda

Not good really.

I had no worries getting BP Ultimate.

Yeah i had no worries either. If you're in northern beaches try the BP on warringah road near corner of melwood avenue (it's between roseville bridge and alambie road in the grand scheme of things).
