Part numbers section

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Just have a bit of an idea - awhile ago I posted some part numbers for NSK camshaft idler/tensioner pulleys for r33's on the General maintenance section - quite a few people ended-up benefitting from these as they got parts a lot cheaper and easier than normal.

I think it'd be a good idea to have a section just for tried and tested part numbers - ie anything from waterpump part numbers to wheel bearings.

One of my pet hates is ringing up a parts dealer and having to wait ages for the person to find the right number - they're allways happier if you know the number/s before you ring - it saves both of you heaps of time.

My dad and I have quite a few numbers on our home computers now as we've done a fair bit of work on our nissan rb's.

Anyway - please tell us what you think - there's a wealth of information on this website - just like to be able to find part of it easier/cheaper!!

Cheers

Good stuff fellas,

Good to see some people are interested in this - I think it'd help everyone out heaps!

Still not many replies though - must be because it's in a section that not many people look at.

Might be worth posting in forced induction or somewhere - I'd say it'd get a lot more views there.

Anyway - is there anyone else that'd like this idea?

What's the next step to take if people want this new section?

Cheers!

I always thought it was a great idea to also have a photo gallery of parts as well as the part numbers, so people can readily indentify common parts on the RB series engines, and know exactly they are looking for.

Or to be able to quickly spot the signs for certain components for s1 and s2 engines, etc, etc.

Gordo: Since you reeeeally love photo post... i reckon we should incorporate the photopost with the part numbers thread idea... have a pic of the item and its corresponding part number.

Should also contain info such as can an identical part from a local car be used... ie Speedo sender from a Nissan Navara can convert the RB25det 5spd from electrical to cable driven ;)

for only $23, compared to $200 ex japan for a 'skyline spec' sender

Definately

Years ago I used vpcommodore/camira heater hoses on my ca18 det silvia - I know it's not a skyline but hell - new hoses cost me only 25 bucks!.....

And they were identical.

Cheers fellas

This is what we need..

a) good photos (photopost!! just for you Mr dave lol)

B) part numbers

c) any useful replacement info (e.g. VL AFM plug fits Z32 AFM)

d) good moderation, to keep non-related talk out

e) where to find (if not nissan directly)

It will save people so much time....

You can buy the Skyline R32/R33 heater hoses from the local auto shop.

Gates now make top and bottom heater hoses.

From memory mine were around the $20 mark.

Hi Joel

How much did you pay for your heater hoses?

I'll be doing my radiator hoses definately at that price!

I looked around a few places in Brisbane but gave up - my bad experiences years ago probably had a bit of influence on giving up.

Good to see some places are making an effort to sell parts at affordable prices.

Head in to any auto parts store and ask if they do gates hoses.

The hoses are definately $18-$26.

I also replaced all of my little hoses when I had the motor out.. Thats the expensive part. $400 or so later. :)

Good news mate!

The other bit's a bugger - I assume you mean little hoses as heater hoses? Or did you replace everything ie all the little ones on the mainifold etc.?

When I did all the little heater hoses on the silvia I was quoted hundreds of dollars - after waiting months I got the sh@ts and took them all off and went to repco - it only took fifteen minutes to find hoses or sections of hoses you had to trim that matched. But that was years ago.

Did you get all the little hoses genuine form nissan?

Cheers

There wasn't too many hoses but they were expensive.

I tried the repco/auto store search for similiar hoses. I found a couple but 90% were genuine. :P

Basically the price came from the 3 heater hoses that run along the firewall. Then there was a few little hoses that run from the throttle body to the plenum and block.

Nissan over here are pretty good. Everything came in within 10days from Japan.

Hi Prank,

In your suggestion can we do what predator (below) has suggested? Sorry, I'm a bit computer illeterate - only just worked out how to download photos!

I think a lot of people agree that it gets pretty annoying going through all the non-related talk when doing a search for something.

The sooner the better I reckon - in the upcoming few months I'll be doing a lot of work on my '33 - ie g/box bearings, clutch etc, so hope to add some helpful information.

Cheers!

two06.. yeah, thats where it will help.. when people decipher things, and or do the ring around and finally get the right answer, then everybody is the wiser :D

Prank.. a sticky could be a good idea.. but whole forum could be nicer, as it could turn into a big thread, and what happens if there are stacks of photos in there as well? It would get messy. So not sure which is best.

I also had an idea of a "massive skyline FAQ" to cover all the n00b questions that get asked 50 times a week... like "can i convert my gts-t into 4WD..", "can i convert my s1 to s2", "what is an mspec" and all that jazz.. with some answers, and of course being as neutral as possible

Anyhow, I put my hand up to mod either the FAQ thread or the part section or sticky ;)

well i suggest if it does happen in what ever thread .... them it needs to be broken down into individual sections , like one for 32gtr - 32 gtst 33 gtr -33gtst etc etc etc

that way you can pick your type of car and look for part numbers relating to your car , rather than having a masive list with all part numbers included.

thats my 2 cents
