Part numbers section

Recommended Posts

yes.. there are many ways to do it... Some part numbers are shared however, so that would need to be noted.

I think the FAQ is a great idea too .. will require some research.. and time to massage into a comprehensive resource, but when its there, will take out much of the traffic and frustration out of the forum. The same things get asked over and over, and are all available in older threads. It just takes somebody to traul through and decipher all the crud out.. and you have a great resource.

Since I thought of the idea about 50 questions have already popped into my head that could be answered in a short paragraph each.. You'd break it down into sections so you'd have "classic skylines", R31, R32, R33, Stagea, etc and as much "need" to know information as you fit in each. Like "what is the difference between the 4 door R33 and 2 door R33?", "what is required to fit an RB26dett into a RWD?".. you could even have a parts locator service (names numbers in each state).. man the list goes on!

Hey guys you'll be very happy to know that i am just about to receive a cd that has shit loads of part numbers on it for most skyline models. I'm having difficulty getting hold of the guy who is supposed to copy it for me but when i get it off him I'll share the wealth with you guys.

Personally I'd like it to be what the heading states: Parts Number Section.

If we start going the DIY turn your r33gtst into a GTR I think it will get pretty complicated! Opinions will most probably differ - I doubt there's that many people here that will end up doing such big conversions.

Maybe if people want this we can make a conversions section too?

My dad and I have installed rb20det's into two cars now - a vH commodore and a r31 skyline so we'd have something to add.

I was reading through the general maintenance section a couple of days ago and saw another bloke post some gtr part numbers. These will end up going to page two etc etc until you have to do a search through all the other threads to get what you want.

Anyway - that's my opinion - a part numbers section, with the guidelines predator posted-up - edit all the BS out.

Cheers

Anyone else have any opinions?

It'd be good to get this section underway - or is it just a silly idea??

Definately not a silly idea, would be rather helpful.

After much frustration, I have only found one person at Melb nissan spares to be helpful, polite, know what hes talking about and give correct info (rather than 'no we dont have it, it needs to be imported from JP').. that'd be 'nitton', nice guy.

Anyway.

I would agree with a sticky thread for each model.. either in general maintenance or a subforum??

Otherwise there can be a general sticky thread for people to add part numbers, and an.. (excel?) file to download for each model and someone can maintain them?

An excel file would probably be best.. and column(s) can be added to the likes of "can interchange with r32..- no" "r32gtr - yes" ... etc etc... make it quicker to search for parts also. BLAH BLAH.
