hey guys, my r33 is running stock boost, stock intercooler, well the only mods it actually has is a 3" exhaust and a k&n panel filter with a cold air setup.

So what should i do next ?

ive been looking around on the forums and have been reading and in debate whether to get a fmic or power fc. with the power fc can i up the boost with that, electronic hand controller or something :s sorry just got the car and am not up to date with things as of yet :)

the main things i would like todo to the car for the moment is say, fmic, 12psi pod filter ... and the power fc.

any ideas of the good order i should do this in, and where i can get these parts from at a decent price. With the power fc where can i get it installed in melbourne and tuned up properly, and how much would that set me back roughly :s

thanks for all your help

Regards

The newbie

hey mate, i'm in the same situation as u, i assume u mean a 12psi bleed valve, well i got one of them and the difference is massive, feels so much better

next on the cards for me is a power fc and possibly cams, i don't wanna go upgrading turbo yet and intercooler is too much of a pain in the ass so might see how far i can go with this, i'll let u know what happens, should be interesting

coupe-this, go have a look at the group buy section...

there is a group buy atm for Power Fc's + Hand controller for 990....

which is probally the cheapest u will ever find...

so if you wana get a PFC, i think this is the time...i wasnt even planning to get the pfc utnil next year, but with that price, i really cant miss out!!

and the PFC does not come with a boost controoller, but u can buy an optional boost controller kit that connects with the pfc,

i will be needing to sell a couple of things to be able to afford to do this, but i do not want to up the boost until i have a good fmic to keep the temps down. i would like to do it like all at once, but yeah :s i dont think so ... ill see when and if i have the money for a pfc, so where can i get it installed and how much would that cost ???

thanks

sorry new to all this stuff, again :s

4 items will work a treat and will be cost effective

1. Exhaust $1000

2. FMIC (get at least a 650x350x77) $1000

3. FPR & pump (Sard FPR & gtr pump or similar) $700

4. Electronic boost controller $800

Cost $3500

Stage 2

5. Power FC + Hand $1000

Cost $1000

Stage 3

6. Turbo $????

7. Cams to match $????

Cost ????

Stage 4

8. Re-build motor (Pistons, bearings, conrods, crank)

9. Head work (blueprint)

Cost ?????

Stage 5

Note: if not happy in spending all this money and want double what you got already

10. Buy a FA18 Super hornet $50,000,000 or $0 if you become a pilot

11. Buy land and build runway... $0 (become a airforce pilot, cause this is un affordable to anyone) LOL

Hi Coupe-This,

The PFC is a better choice first off. Correct those AFR's and ignition map and you will find some good mid range power to play with.

Before the FMIC I'd have a lightweight flywheel on the list and an adjustable exhaust cam gear, both cost less and together will yeild a greater performance gain.

As for the POD filter, forget it for now it's a waste of money for no gain in power (you can go backwards). The panel filter is just as good in terms of the flow you will need and the factory airbox has a cold air feed already.

You will find 10 to 12psi of boost will work fine to get you to a low 13, without a fmic.

i wouldnt run any more than 10psi on the stock cooler

A common misconception. There is some 'rubbish' that goes around about a 'huge' pressure drop, it is just that 'rubbish'. When the total airflow required to generate a certain power is below the flow capabilities of the factory cooler you are fine. Above that flow amount you experience unreasonable restrictions. Factory turbo's don't have the guts to really out flow the little intercooler, thats not to say a better design won't flow more efficiently and yeild better power. You need to turf the factory unit when going to a higher power turbo setup for sure.

you can run 12-13psi without issue.
