Very new in japan and I would like to purchase a push bike for my own transport to get around osaka as I wont be buying a car EVEN THOUGH its really cheap cos Im going back home after 3 months

My question is where can I buy a 2nd hand bike in Osaka area as I dont really wanna buy a new bike (no point) as im leaving it anyway.

Had a look at the local kansai paper no bike available for sale

Cheers!

There are THOUSANDS of bike shops all with 2nd hand bikes for sale 5 -6,000 yen for re-built ones. Just walk around a few blocks and you'll find one for sure.

Alterantively, you could "find" an unlocked (read: unloved) one on Saturday night/Sunday morning after a night on the grog...

You don't wanna do that especially when your a foreigner.

Justin, I have a little story about that, not sure if I told you. A mate of mine did just that and the cops were waiting at the train station for him that night he returned from work. Never think no one is watching. When a bike goes missing and you suddenly appear riding a newly sprayed bike, unfortunately they always suspect the foreigners first.

Bwahahahaha! Why didn't I get caught... wow in the first year I was here I must've stolen about 10 bicycles (after a long night out in Shinsaibashi) ALL of which ended up being thrown into the Yodogawa!! ;)

B-b-b-b-b-baaaaaad to tha bone...

cant you get a car for about 200,000 yen or less with about a few months of shaken left? thats what i would do and just junk it afterwards or sell it

we use to do the bike thing before, just ride it from the train station to close where i live then just leave it over there. this was back when i wasnt in the airforce yet.
