G'day guys,

i've got a HR31 GTS-x with a sunroof.. i can't fit in it with a helmet on due to the sunroof lowering the interior roof height

my question is: Have any of your run into this problem? And how have you over come it, in the way of aftermarket seats?

As everyone make and model of car is different to whether it will raise your in the car or lower it, i was just wondering if any of your guys have found a seat that actually lowers your in the car.. i need about.. i need to be lowered between 1 - 2 inches to comfortably fit my head in with a helmet.

Any information you could pass onto me would be fantastic

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Ben

Following from adam's comments yes my head hits my roof in my car as well and im only 5'10...About the only way to deal with it is to make custom rails up and lower ur seating position

Yeah, the roofs are too bloody low in the DR30's at least, I have to tilt the seat back a bit to fit and I still touch, but i refuse to adopt the dickhead seat position, I've got a feeling half the reason i don't seem to attract police attention is that my seat is quite upright

I have a Recaro in my R32 - I've had it for many years. It allows me to sit a bit lower in the car so that when I wear my helmet, I don't need to slide forward and down.

The degree of lowering depends on how well the seat is adapted to fit in the car.

Go and talk to Tony at IdealSeat in Moorabbin.

interesting.. looking pretty doubtful atm :)

boof; you mention custom rails.. where would i go to inquire about getting them made up? and what would a reasonable price i should expect to pay?

thanks for the input guys :)

Cheers

As i don't live in melbourne i have NFI where u would go, but any workshop should be able to perform the work, might even try using a aftermarket bucket (sparco) or similar and see what the go is then

It's all in the seat and seat rail.

Get one that is lower than standard - much lower.

It will lower your centre of gravity (slightly) and lower your overall sitting position without having to move your seat (since you're basically going directly down).

Disadvantage maybe a little impractical for the street as your field of vision is also lowered.

Personally I like my lowered seat. I have room in my car for a helmet and I have a sunroof. (Although admittedly it's not a DR).
