Changing injector plugs...intake manifold off...any cautions?

Recommended Posts

once again, thanks heaps guys....

I actually just disconnected the fuel pump via the plug in the boot....easy.:-) only took several seconds as she died...:-)

but now after fart arse-ing around taking all the shite out of the way to get to the injectors.....I cannot find our allan key set AND the VL replacement plugs I brought do not match!!! the ones on the car now are "JECS" plugs with the slot off-centre to fit on the injecotrs, whereas the VL plugs the slot is centred....would you believe it!?

I will.......attempt......to clean the ones on there....but I'd say they are pretty farked.....start from scratch and try to find some plugs OFF an RB20DET engine....

same old same old

:-)

PS: Is WD40 pretty much the same as that contact cleaner stuff people use on these sorts of things?

no contact cleaner is v different ! Go get some! that stuff is gold! but $20-30 a bottle...

bad luck with the plugs.. tho I got this from another thread re rb26 injectors into rb20 plugs...

"The only reason the RB20 plug wont go on is there is a small plastic protrusion in the Inj. socket.

This small lug just needs to be cut away with a stanley knife to make the std plug fit on OK - a fairly quick and easy fix."

Awesome.....I didn't even think to just cut it away! However....I may have to have a quick look-see and see if the clips on the VL plugs will be enough to secure the plugs to the injectors.....but sounds promising!

Thanks heaps Ed...

Would WD40 be ok to use for now? or will it do more bad than good?

Cheers

no worries...I'll steer clear of the WD40.....might get myself some contact cleaner for the injectors then......expensive but.....

thanks for all your help Ed, much appreciated!

:-)

PS: I'll let you know if anything else pops up..:D (Which it probabaly will!)
