Stagea Fuel Pump

Howdy All,

Just a bit of info for all fellow Stagea type people. And that is that the fuel pumps on the RS4's aren't the same setup as the ones on the R33's.

I went to change mine today, undid the big black plastic locating ring, pulled the cap up and there was only the fuel gauge sender hanging off of it !!! The pump is mounted to the right/bottom side of the fuel tank. Not like the R33's were the pump is mounted to the big cap thingy

Soooo, I could be wrong here, but I would say that we'd have to go external if we want to upgrade the fuel pumps, as getting to the factory one down the bottom of the fuel tank is gunna be close to impossible

Interesting.... And the reason I say that is in the Nismo catalogue the 260RS pump is listed as the same as the BNR32 (not BNCR33). Is the tank different, or????

I was considering the R32 pump in my car as a first choice, but it seems that matters may be slightly complicated.

yeah, bit of a bummer..

The only thing I can think of is that the 260RS's and the RS4's have a different setup.

260RS's share the setup with the R32 GTR, while the RS4's have their own..

I heard/read somewhere that the Stagea fuel tank has the same part number as the R32 one, anyone else know about this?

You have to be able to get to the pump to service it. There must be a way. As for the Stagea tank being the same as the R32 tank, my Stagea tank is molded plastic and the R32 tank is fabricated steel.

Yepp, You can get to it through the hole etc, but I was a liitle scared about unscrewing it and getting it out..

I've got a really bad habit of dropping screws

Maybe drop the tank out and drain the petrol ?

with a little bit of modification youcan use a 33 gtr pump. I have put a nismo 33 gtr fuel pump in my stagea. Took me about 2 hours and a bit of messing around but all is in and works great....just a bit noisy tho...

Did you use the factory Stagea location for the GTR pump ? Or did you make up your own bracket etc?

I used the factory brackets just a bit of modification needed in some spots. I'll give you a hint, rotate the pump!! and you'll need a small file to locate the pump where a "v" is needed.

Ahh, very good.

Was it difficult getting the factory mount/bracket out ? When I had the big cap off, it looked pretty damn hard to get to the mount/pump to get it out.

I was going to take a photo of it but I was a bit worried about using the flash around the petrol.. lol

Cool, so I presume you can do it without dropping the tank then.....

yes, you can do it from in the car, just disconnect battery :flamed: make sure the tank is less than 1/4 full and then you should be right.

I might try and work out some sort of snorkle setup so I don't gas myself from the fumes

do it out in the open and away from everyone, open all the doors and you should be fine.

yeah and make sure your mobile phone and anything else electrical is off and away from you and earth yourself for static take some pics if you can
