I recently had a few mods done, eg plenum cooler and computer. Now my car only made 180kw at the wheels

I was wondering how different dyno's compare with read outs, Cause I have raced skyline's with 200-220kw and made a meal of them

So is mine makin more power than my dyno sheet is sayin

I ran it at calder and got 13.2 at 108.7mph

Does that seem right for a car with only 180 at the wheels

i ran 13.8 @ 104 with 2.2 60ft i think, and i had about 180rwkw maybe a bit less (at time of 1/4 run)

but mines auto and i couldnt stall up any higher than 2000rpm without the wheels spinning on the spot, ide say if you launched at 2000rpm you'd have a simialar time to me

so yeh, all looks good :)

Sorry not enough data to make a call. R32 or R33 or R34? GTST, GTR or GTT? Manual or Auto?

That's quite easy to do at the drags just from experience and knowledge. In some races you can make 0.75sec on the other driver just in reaction time and 0.25sec in 60ft time, so theirs 1 full second in the first 20m which has absolutely nothing at all to do with engine power. At 1 of my last drags I did I raced a forum member whom had around 250-260rwkw (180rwkw for me). I knew he'd get me easily in the TS so I made an extra effort to get off the line before him and make him run me down. As above I had him easily in the Reaction and 60ft and even by 3/4 track but in the last 100m when his turbo kicked in he blew past me like I was standing still. I did a 14.1sec and he did a low 13sec pass.

They are 2 completely different things.

A Dyno measures how much power your engine is making minus the drivetrain loss giving a result. It doesn't matter whether it's your mum revving out your engine or the guy from your local fish & chip shop as it is still going to give the same result on that dyno.

A 1/4 Mile drag race measures how good your suspension setup is, traction, accelleration, top end, driver ability, track preperation, weather conditions, experience, knowledge and how big your balls are.

I'd be pretty happy with that. I think 108mph (not knowing what your 60ft was) would be good for a 12.9sec pass though, hell I see torana's doing low 12's with only 108mph every wednesday night so its not the TS but more so the first 330ft is where all the time is made, after that it comes down to just pure horsepower.

I wish, i'm at ~180rwkw and can't for the life of me beat a 14.1sec :) I'm determined to break into the 13's before I sell my car though.

Holy hell - your dynos must read extremely low, or your tracks must be insane.....

I'm thinking it might be a bit of a combination. I did 14.1 @ 103mph with 2.35s 60ft time with 183rwkw in the manual GTS25t here, on a cold unprepped track and raced and beat all the other R33s present, as well as a manual twin turbo 300ZX.

Either your dyno read's high or the timing system of the track is out.

14.1 @ 103 mph indicates around 165rwkw's

183rwkw's you should be able to get mid to low 13's at 105 - 107mph - with good traction.

Sounds like your car is more towards the 195 - 200rwkw mark with 108mph at 13.2. - 2.5 60fter

And yes different dyno's can read differently - depending on calibration and air temps etc.

a lesson I've learn't lately is that peak rwkw doesn't meen that you are going to run a certain ET or mph at the track even if your launch and changes are up to scratch. Good ET's and even a nice high mph depends alot on your power curve and other things as such .

Take my GTR as an example currently making 270rwkw on a dynamic's dyno best ET and mph so far is 12.1@114mph with a 1.760ft and nice clean changes at the right rpms all the way down the track. Just looking at the peak power and comparing it with other r32 GTR's you would think it should be mid to high 11's at something closer to 120mph but it isn't .

7heavn, have you worked out what is up with your car and that time? Could the dyno be reading too high? How is the power made? Peaky or linear? I mean you are getting 1.7 60 ft's, so it really isn't lacking at the line. Is it running clean in the top end?

I just ran a few numbers on a calculator and came up with 11.88@114MPH, so the MPH is there, but the time is a bit out.
