Get fined for having the plates on the left instead of center?

a cop told me the plate has to be parallel with the axel's on the car but can be on the left, right or centre, just not on an angle

check out ur display pic (avator) on the right, that r34 has the plates at the same position like me.

i don't see what the problem is. just sounds to me like another attepmt to make money out of car enteusiasts.
