grinding noise from rear??

[performance-wise]

driving along tonight and i suddenly heard a grinding metal sound from the rear. I slowed down and pulled over.

I noticed as I slowed that the grinding didnt alter with gearchanges but sounded like it was slowing with my wheels.

(I am assuming that my gearbox, diff and drive shaft are ok?)

After having a look (couldnt see much as it was dark) I decided to keep driving as I forgot my mobile and I was still about 30 kms from home. The noise kept up for a short while as I was driving between 60 - 80km. It seemed to get a little louder and make a couple of odd sounds and then it went away.

I continued to drive it home without any firther noise??

Whilst driving it I tested the gear box, brakes, suspension, steering, acceleration.......and it drove like normal.

Any one got any insights????

Rear Brake Pads still got meat on em?

also look at the nuts on ur rear wheels

i had this noise n when i went to take the wheels off i noticed i was driving with 2 nuts holding the rear wheel on

3 had snapped off

Yeah, check your rear pads... gently brake while going down a quiet street and if the noise changes/dissapears/gets worse... I'd say thats the prob.
