i,m wanting to buy a pair of cams for my rb25de (r33) head , but the supplier wants to know if its a series 1 or series 2 model . how do i tell . mines got variable cam timing if thats any help .

appreciate your help

post a pic of the throttle body and ill tell you which you have

throttle body is different, ecu is different, turbo is different and a few others

air flow meter is different also

As far as I know they are all same... unless youa re talking about RB25DE NEO...

Neo engine is just fancy way of saying New RB25 block... - in this case there is minor differences.

series one or two means there are cosmetically differnces and interior - just like turbo GTS25T

coil packs ignitor is different on series II i believe

Yep, that's the difference on a DE. Look at the rear of the cam cover, if S1 there will be a black box containing the ignitors for the coils. If S2 there will be no box, instead all you'll see is the 4 mounting studs for the box.

What year is your car? If 93 - 94 then almost certainly S1 engine, if 95 then could be either, if 96+ then almost certainly S2.

you'll also notice the early series 1 has no variable valve timing (like the R32 RB20DE, DET's and the RB25DE that came in R32's) wheras the later Series 1 and 2 do have it.

am still trying to work out for sure . you see i,m trying to buy cams thru nengun and they say there is a difference in crank angle sensor ( how it engages in the camshaft i assume ) . anybody know of any difference or what the difference is
