what would you guys reccomend for around the same $$$

i have:ecu is a tuned rom, I have a turbo back exhaust although factory dump pipe,

My fuel system is pritty much factor except for a bosch 044 fuel pump making heaps of noise in my boot.

I have a excedy heavy duty single plate clutch, pod filter, and blitz lm type intercooler.

The car is making 160kw's on 13psi which is getting boring and would like to make 220kw's or so in the future.

check out the hks gt28rs specs and speak to gcg.com.au and see if they can make you an equivalent garrett spec to match the power output suitable for your rb20

unless you dont mind spending more $$$ and paying for a hks label turbo

a garrett gt28rs and hks gt28rs arent the same as far as i know

The GT30 is an awsome turbo, highly recommend it! I am using the non-wastegated version though with a .82 housing (no lag). Garrett dont produce an internal gated GT30 this seems to be done by http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/HPIAB2/cat...ategory12_1.htm, "We are able to modify your wastegated exhaust housing to accommodate the Gt30 core in most cases, providing a great bolt on upgrade".

Luke.

p.s.

Try this link http://www.xspeed.com.au/ssport/39ecr33/ this r33gtst making 405hp at the wheels on completly stock engine using a gt30.

I've herd that the internal wasgated version of the GT30 is a dodgy version ???

Sounds like a parts bin turbo, not "developed" as such.

I don't think so!! These units are genuine New Garrett core and comp cover units. They use the Nissan RB .63 internal 6 bolt exhaust housing and they are a new initiative by Horsepowerinabox.com to address a void in bolt on turbo's for RB engines.

GT30 500hp is going to be far more than what you need if your chasing 220rwkw.

You'd put a GT30 500-550hp on an RB25, not an RB20

something in the 450HP max is what your after.

drunkenmaster I paid 2k for my new Garrett 600HP Turbo. Thats just how much they cost. Doesnt mean they are underdeveloped cause you aint paying stupidly high prices for the Jap equivalents

These things are straight out of the box (a new Product). I haven't had any feedback on their results, but I'd expect a solid 250RWKW+ at least. I am excited about these units and was a bit bewildered by the negative comment on them. There has never been a real option with the internal T3 flange in a Garrett, which is our core product. Horsepowerinabox.com took the initiative to develop a unit that filled the void in the product range as a bolt on RB unit. I'd hate to count the times I've replied to queries with "sorry we cannot help you with that".

I believe Garrett are planning to release a range of internal T3 units in March 05, as it has been on a promise for some time.

In my opinion the 500hp unit with a .63 would be a great bolt on for a mild RB25 set-up. I've heard feedback on guys using the 700hp internal garrett unit (AKA XR6) with great success on rb 25 and 30 combo's. I'd have thought the exhaust was too big on those units... but go figure??

With the RB20 the current unit can be offered with a smaller 450hp GT28 core, but it will be the same price because of the machining involved. The only other alternative is using a smaller unit such as a GT28RS and a flange adapter from T28 to T3. We have designed a CNC Tapered adapter which is not a bad piece.

Inabox , what exhaust housing is being modified to take the GT30 turbine ? I know HKS do two T3 flanged integrally gated GT30 turbine housings , in .68 and 87 which can be had on their GT2835 Pro S and GT3037 Pro S turbos .

Garrett will do themselves a favour by producing something similar . I agree about the 1.06 housing on the BA's GT3540R , there needs to be a .82 as well . Can you confirm if the .50 comp cover is a TO4E ?

Thanks A .

Hi guys,

i just wanted to hear some feed back on this turbo and what it would be like on a rb20?

they have now developed an interally gated one that is practically bolt on.

thanks

Mark

dude,

if u want good street drivability with plenty of poke from your RB20, then you'd want to go for something a little smaller.

i'd recommend something like this;

http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant...tegory_Code=GRT

it is the garrett equivalent to the HKS GT2835R which can flow a nice ~420hp.

or this one;

http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant...tegory_Code=GRT

this one comes with the smaller 84 Trim exhaust wheel and an A/R .64 exhaust housing and is equivalent to the HKS GT2835.

give these some thought, as i believe you'll be able to get these shipped over to melbourne for less than $2k AUD.
