I have heard some points of view but no one can confirm, have Nissan fixed the sump baffle issue by using one on the VspecII. Some people have told me yes and other said no. If anyone has experience or access to Nissan stats please let me know.

Thanks

Don't know if this helps, but according to the Nissan FAST (parts) software all R34 GTR's have the same sump baffles (ie VspecII have nothing special in that area).

I have the R34 skyline GTR best album from japan and as far as i can tell they didn't change the sump or turbos they are the same as the normal v-spec and m-spec models i have photos of all the differences between the v-spec and v-spec II and it just shows the change to the black interior the carbon bonnet with NACA duct, larger N1 rear brakes the foot pedals are different more of a race style, clear indicators, plastic end tanks on the radiator for the v-spec II instead of metal, the MFD on the v-spec II has a oil pressure reading instead of throttle %, slightly different colour on the centre console, different seatbelts and buckles, different mirror controllers and the v-spec II did not get the sound deadening material on the underside of the bootlid and no cover over the rear windscreen wiper motor apparently was a cost saving thing and the v-spec II is 10 kg heavier.

Gents,

 Thanks for the info, but but adding to that did the R34's change the sump baffle from the R33? Or did they leave the oil issue?

As far as I knew all RB26DETT's have a sump baffle, and they are all the same part number. I will check FAST tonight.

I was unaware there was an issue with oil on RB26's other than the R32 oil pumps and oil pump drive on the crank.

I would be interested to know what the problem is.

eharrald;

The standard baffle is more of a windage tray. Do a forum search on 'sump baffle' and get ready to read for a long time...basically oil surge=starvation= spun bearing and other really, really bad stuff in no time at all.
