I think you mean MAP (manifold absolute pressure) and MAF (mass air flow). When people say AFM (air flow metre), they generally mean MAF sensor.

Assuming that's what you mean I'll go to the questions:

The main advantage of going to a MAP sensor is that there is now no MAF in front of the turbo which can cause an inlet restriction (particulary if you have something like the 3540 that duncan gave you for christmas). the disadvantage is that MAP are not quite as precise at measuring actual airflow into the engine (without the MAF to gauge load) so fuel economy can suffer, and general more tuning time is required to get a good result.

You're right, you can't just ditch the MAF and go to a MAP setup without an appropriate ecu, microtech, autronic, or Power FC D-JETRO.
