Here guys,

DOTARS hate imports, they hate skylines, they hate everything about all that you love.. guys who look like this:

John Cobb. Mp. (Department Of Transport And Regional Services)

So heres what we're going to do about it!

1. copy and paste the below into a word document.

2. Edit it and change any wording/information you might like to add. Personalise my template a bit.. but try and stay as mature as possible.

3. Change the name/phone number/email address down the bottom to your own

4. The NCC are the National Competition Council. They are a watchdog that basically tell DOTARS what to do. Go to their website and paste your letter into their contact form here: http://www.ncc.gov.au/contact.asp

5. DOTARS are a bunch of snivelling assholes who need to be told by the Australian public that we actually like driving imports. They dont want a skyline or a high performance turbo car in your driveway. Email your letter to these three gentlemen: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]

6. If your great on the phone, give them a call here: +61 2 6274 7111 and then just start reading my template out.

In regards to the importation of used vehicles.

I have read the NCC's 2003 report, but I am not satisfied.

As a consumer I can not figure out why my government tries its hardest to stop me from importing a high quality, low cost used vehicle from Japan.

The quality of a 5-10 year old vehicle from Japan is not only far superior to models sold new by local manufacturers, but due to the Japanese car registration system, the vehicle is substantially cheaper than what I can buy locally.

I do not find it acceptable that local car suppliers are given immunity against a free market, when Australia is meant to be a country promoting free trade?

Nobody can provide me with a straight answer, and the more information I seek about the issue the more obvious it becomes that the government wants to wrap up the whole issue with red tape.

Not only does the Department of Transport and Regional Services (hereby refered to as DOTARS) make it close to impossible to bring in a used vehicle, but tries as hard as possible to make it as expensive as it possibly can.

Clearly DOTARS' goal is to reduce the amount of vehicles being brought into the country. The Department of Transport and Regional Services has admitted this in the past, and it is simply unacceptable.

The National Competition Council is the only body I believe is capable of dictating to DOTARS, and I am writing to you to please take this matter seriously.

The NCC's look into the issue in 2003 needs to be reviewed again, as DOTARS will be making further changes to the import process of 15 year old vehicles specifically quite soon, with the aim of further reducing import numbers once again.

From my own independant research it is obvious that by reducing the tight stranglehold on car import numbers, and by creating a free car market, it will promote healthy competition in the market place, and strengthen Australias economy.

By unrestricting commercial vehicle imports, Australians will be paying less to drive higher quality vehicles whether they be locally delivered or imported.

Do it.
