SK - does Stagea have a single unit for Auto ECU or is it like the R32 & R33 Skyline where there's a main unit and a secondary auto controller?

Why i'm asking is i'm wondering if the R32 auto ECU would have extra code compared to the manual ECU considering there's a separate gearbox controller.

Thanx

Yeh get the biggest cooler you can get and make sure its mounted somewhere to work efficiently. The auto needs heat to work properly, but too much and it will do damage.

Ill be dismaying some myths to do with automatic skylines/stagea and standard ecu's in general along with sk,

Im aiming more for 240-250rwkw with either a GCG hiflow or GT-RS depending on how much money i have at the time.

The emanage aparantly STILL has problems with burning coils, as much as i hear they've fixed it, is as much as i hear its still blowing coils.

IF they have fixed it 100%, then the Emanage would be a better option than an SAFC2+SITC combination.

Im confident i can get a Z32AFM and S15 Injectors running well on the standard ecu with just the SAFC2+SITC. The only other real option is emanage, and they are still very clouded in my opinion.

Either way, things look promising for all the automatic owners :)

I should be finished this project and have results to post in jan/feb :burnout:

I have 190 rwkw and the standard transmission cooler on my 34. It overheated a little once at Wakefield which is a tight track but that was after about 15 laps. Cooled it down and it didn't happen again. Can't see why you would need anymore than that for the street although I should be heading well into the 200's soon and will be thinking about a bigger trannie cooler for the track.

If you fit oversized injectors then you trim a large % of fuel out with the SAFC etc then the ECU thinks its under much less load and the Auto outputs see less load also so keep the trim needed as low as possible.

We use a datascan on the Dyno when tuning hi powered cars with an SAFC and find timing ETC gets out of hand.

  • 1 year later...

When you say to whack on bigger injectors and then trim the fuel down using the SAFC, how are you going to control these injectors? Don't you need an ECU that is capable of controlling the new injectors?

The standard ECU is only programmed to run the stock injectors as far as I understand... correct me if I'm wrong.

    • Last year I got a set of MCA street coilovers for my turbo Forester after my son hitting a concrete gutter/wall on a small bridge causing the whole drivers side suspension to get bent because the rain just made the car slide out I love them, I think they were $2400. even had a hiccup of have the wrong hub configuration (my fault) so got onto MCA and they sent the correct shock ends overnight parts from QLD, for free!  I was very impressed with their customer service and quality of the product
    • They've had some weird failures on their brake actuators. One of them was because they added some kind of lubricant to the factory fill brake fluid that aftermarket brake fluid didn't have so it would affect the seals. Another was just mysterious, probably internal corrosion or something eating away at Prius brake actuators. Parts alone for those are a few thousand USD so not a cheap fix.

    • KYBs are typically twin tube, putting them in the lower tier of desireability. Do you just want to replace worn out ones for the lowest cost? I mean, you wouldn't just replace one end of a car, if the rears are a similar age to the fronts, then they are probably nowhere near what they should be, and likely won't be great against brand new fronts. So, to spend ~$800 on 2nd tier dampers, when you could get a decent set of MCA coilovers for <$4k.....? As to the strut tops. 1st up, the Sparesbox site specifically tells you that they are not correct for an R33. Beyond that, why do you think you need them?
