Almost every decision made by insurance companies is based on statistics, not what they see on today tonight.

4 years ago, a 94 200sx was more expensive than my R33 b/c there more claims on 200sx's than R33's (relative to the number insured)

Now R33 have have more claims (relativly speaking) so they are more expensive.

In simplified terms:

age + gender = risk1 -> risk of you haing accident in general

risk1 * type of car = ris2 -> risk of you having an acident with that car

I have never made an at falt claim, but i have been hit twice this year by other morons! Now my wife's insurance tells me that 1 more NOT at fault claim, and my excess goes up!!!!!

WHY????

B/C statistically they think I somehow contributed to both accidents, even though i was not at fault.... I know it sucks, but they have to run their business somehow....

INASNT: yah totally. and I dont blame them. You would not believe the amount of P platers that try and provoke me to drag them.

I remember there was this one poor guy that was coming the other way in a R33 GTST on Rooks Rd Nunawading and he saw me and decided to make sure I knew he was there by doing a quick burn out and revving the hell out of his car not realising 2 cars behind him was a cop car who looked very interested at his driving skills ;) I dont know what happened to him.

Zahos: I know what you mean!

Afew years ago with my previous car I took it to a Mazda Dealer in Melbourne for a service and they rang me the next day saying that they had stacked my car. Well even though it wasn't directly my fault it was still logged as a claim against myself.

I drive an R34 GT-T

Exhaust, Cooler, wheels etc.

Just Cars Insure me for $1385 including a year of rating protection.

Big excess though, but if I crash my car, I deserve to pay through the nose for being an idiot in whatever I was doing to cause an accident.

BASS OUT

Thanks people for the new posts. I have decided to opt for something a bit more tame for the moment so have gone down the path of a Lexus. I can get insured on that for $690 which I am happy about. I will hopefully do a few things with that and then look at a skyline later in the year when my insurance comes up for renewal.

Feel free to keep the suggestions coming especially if it helps others.

Cheers for the advice though guys and girls, appreciated.

Regret we cant assist on a quote for a turbo at your age. Try Just Cars 13 13 26

    • I also understand psi but apparently most things make more sense in kpa oil pressure being one of a few exceptions so im trying to learn ahahahah, I have no idea of the relief spring pressure tbh I thought 110 which is the absolute peak it hits was about right, I was thinking of removing the relief and making sure it is in good condition, I would just replace it but couldn't find a replacement for an n1 pump too easily but I could just be blind.
    • It certainly does make sense that there is just no oil to pick up, but I can go 3 or 4 gears of WOT and have no oil pressure issues too (I have no logs of this unfortunately) and I have a fair amount of oiling mods to try and help only thing I'm missing is a rear head drain which is potentially the most helpful.
    • speaking of the relief spring and noting this is one of those stupid times where I understand imperial (psi) but the graph is in metric (kpa), it looks like the oil pressure is a little low at full noise too, isn't the relief spring 120psi/830kpa?
    • No. All these dirty old Datsuns are shitboxes. Including the GTR.
    • Yeah well I was thinking...there is nothing that happens when you get off the throttle that should cause low oil pressure, its not like clearances suddenly change or and the relief spring would close and in any case the sensor is on the feed side....so more likely there was no oil available to pick up which means all the basic oil control stuff to: 1. keep oil out of the head (restrictors) 2. get it back out of the head when it gets there (external breathers/oil return, drilling out the block and head oil returns) 3. have more oil in the sump to pick up - larger capacity sump 4. have more oil near the pick up - baffles
