Stopped the backhand reach around method without even noticing. I think it came from driving the little Exige and Caterhams last year where there is no space in the cabin and you sit so low...no space for reach arounds is never a good thing :(

And Yes...something with E85 in the next two weeks :)

LOL, is that a rev up? Every mod I do I lose response :) Its a proven fact :)

I am only looking at running a 50% mix of E85. That way i can keep a 200L drum and just add 20L from a jerry can in my boot to 20L of 98 from the bowser. Will see just how sensitive the E85 is to moisture from storage :)

Not really all that concerned about gaining a lot. The car can make 285rwkws on 100RON, and i back it off a little to 255-265rwkws (on 98 I have to back it off to 245rwkws odd) for the track for when it gets hot. So with the better fuel i hope to be able to tune it up to 280rwkws and it still be safe on the track when oil/coolant, inlet temps all get hot.

Nah no rev up, alchohol based fuels tend to burn cooler the petroleum, so less heat in the manifold means less engery to turn the turbine.

But whether that is offset by being able to run more ignition advance, I dont know, there is no set science to it, some cars loose response and some gain.

But on the other hand the more advanced the timing the cooler teh EGT's (until it detonates) which wont help the situation

Hopefully you gain the respose back

how much psi were you running in the 245rwks track setup and your 285kw? on the vid u posted what power output was that? what kind of oil/coolant inlet temps do u see on street duties, and what do they change to on the track? i am curious as i have a similar setup and i havent had any track work yet but if i am planning to all this extra trialed and tested info is of great help.

Ita not all that scientific really. 21-20psi is the on 100RON is 280odd, 18psi with a few degrees of ignition removed is 245rwkws. The vid from Winton in December was 260rwkws on 100RON, the vid from last weekend is somewhere between 245-250rwkws on 98ron. Get your tuner to give it plenty of hits on the dyno under load with the water and oil temps up there and make sure the tune is fine.

My problem is my engine seems to take less ignition then it used to with the std plenum now I have the Plazmaman inlet so other engines may not be so sensitive to fuel and ignition. Well, at least mine never used to be so its either somehow related to the inlet or the engine is simply getting tired. Could be either really. I try not to run inlet temps over 95 for water on the track...no idea what my oil temp is tese days as i have never wired the sensor back up after my fire all those years ago. But typically stopped when my oil was at 110deg. These days not knowing what it is is i bet its getting up to 130deg on the track. On the street my water temp is usually between 70-75deg C

Isn't this offset by you using 20% more fuel to reach the same total energy?

The very few cars I've done ethanol blend tunes have ended up with better overall power delivery, potentially slightly better spool but I don't stress too much about the boost curve so much as power delivery. All that should matter is more torque everywhere :)

nice vid bris. love to see you out there mate. we both need to do someting about seats. I notice both mine and your seats move around A LOT in the top half. short of tagging the thing to the main hoop of the cage what can we do to stifen the buggers? It may also be our awesome physiques?

looks like you've got the radcam dialed in nicely now too. fking thing.

Well, now that I am back in Aus and the car is back together. I am goign to keep this thread alove :)

So did two track days in two weekends. Did two laps at Sandown and got booted because of noise :( So the following weekend went to Winton and gave it a wrap...

The basics were 19psi, 245rwkws and shifting between 7,400-7,600rpm for 43 laps. I have lost a bit of power as United have stopped selling 100RON so had to wind some ignition of it. Its amazing how sensitive my engine is to ignition, it really loses and gains power with a few degrees....so need to look at getting back on a better quality fuel. Before the plenum install i ran 98 plenty of times on the 100ron tune and no issue.

nice vids! can't believe they kicked you outta sandown, its not that loud!

...with the 6boost manifold and Turbosmart gate it is a lot higher pitch then it used to be, and perhaps a little louder. So they used to ping me eyars ago before I went OS with work. Seems upon my return they again care about loud cars :(

Your seat base isnt oo big a problem Count, its the Momo rails you are using on the base. Throw the Cobra rail on Frankenbase and it will be rigid again :) (O think/hope)

any upcoming trackdays? i might come down for a look at your beast in action :)

Stick a muffler on the end of the gate?

thanks for the info roy, have you taken your car down the strip before/after the plazmaman or other mods? if so whats the best time you have got with what setup? plazmaman plenum was my next upgrade but after hearing what you have said i am now hesitant

One bad result doesnt mean the product isnt any good. There could be a few reasons why I didnt yield better results. There is evidence that if i throw my Tomei cams in, the 10cm housing at it that I aill make way more power up top then I ever could with the std plenum...but seems to not be able to match the torque/response of the std plenum. For my car the compromise doesnt seem to have worked out well.

I have taken the car down the qtr years ago with about 235rwkws and RE55s. I ran a 12.9 at 114mph with a 2.3 60ft time. I walked the car off the line as I am still running a std RB20 gearbox. That box now has 205,000kms on it so I try to look after it with launches and shifts, it probably had about 180,000kms on it when i ran that time. With a proper go in first and second gear trying to get the 60ft time down to 2.0sec or better then there is a pretty easy low 12 in it. And that time was with this tune...

I still remember racing you all night @ Calder, fun times.

:D

You've gotta weigh up cost vs gain, the plenum itself + retuning etc is basically RB25 motor money.
