Top RB20 Club... do you have over 260rwkw?

Recommended Posts

In Sydney driving approx 120kms a day, livingt at Richmond, working in Chatswood i was getting about 410-430kms before the light was coming on. Driving up from Melb i was over at about 400kms with still plenty on the dial, but filled up as didnt want to get stuckbetween Albury and Goulbourn:)

So economy is pretty good as long as im not getting stuck up it.

Thats not bad then. I only drive about 60k's a day to work and back but have not yet tuned the car or given it a desent run over a long period (only on the track for about 40 laps) and it was pretty heavy on the juice. I put $10 (which was about 8L's) and got about 60k's could go more but light had been on for a while.

Might have to drive EXTREMLY CONSERVATIVE during the week and play on weekends or just keep taking the bike.

i made 298.7 @ 16.5 psi on sat... dyno dynamics

car had been on dyno for about 2 hours tuning so intercooler was getting a bit heat soaked and piping was fairly hot. would have cracked over 300 easy when not so hot

full boost at about 4100-4200 ish and holds dead steady all way to 7500

car drives heaps better now, lots more responsive and a little more top end, fuel is about 11.3-11.7 afrs and Power FC knock count doesnt go above 35 so is very safe.

will post power graph on friday as i dont have a scanner here. will get tuned again in a little while at 18psi and will hopefully get between 320-330rwhp

Pretty sweet dude

Look forward to seeing it around the streets

next is ems stinger, manual conversion, head gasket with arp bolts, injectors and boost....

GT30 means as much as hi-flow these days. It seems so many trubo shops are sellign things they claim to be GT30 this and that, but are vastly different to what Garret calls a GT30, or HKS use as the basis of their GT30 series turbos, and the results vary greatly as well.

Very true, without wheel trims and specs etc, its pretty useless information

Sounds like it has potential though! I'm almost given up on getting anymore out of my setup, just cant get anymore out of a 2510 by the looks of things! Damn I wish it was a 2530/35! For the cost and headache's involved, cams aren't happening with mine, too much for not much gain

Might try a differant intercooler, as mine has a 60mm core, maybe something larger will give it that last bit of top end it so desperatley needs!

Someone hurry up and get a 2835ProS ffs!! I want to see how they would perform on a RB20........

yeah, depending on load and gear, 1.4bar at just after 3200rpm from memory in 3rd, in 2nd its a bit later, probaly closer to 4000, dies of a bit after 6200rpm, just need to get the last 1500rpm pointing the right way on the dyno, then it would make 220rwkw no worries

Dam thats bloody good responce Chris. So it must be a GT2510 then?

With my motor one sparkplug had cracked the ceramic thing around the electrode and slid down and i'm guessing thats why it idled really rough at times and good sometimes.Still don't know about the knock thou and it still has lots of oil pressure!

Sounds like you may have spun a bearing Jase ;)

If so you can still save your existing motor, just need to machine crank, and get resized bearings.

Used to be a regular occurance on my SR20, knock knock knock as you rev :)

I cant remember if you have cam gears...perhaps fiddle with teh cam timing so that you lost a but of mid range and help the top end a tad?!?!?! It seems you have mid range to burn:)

Also, is your boost tapering off at high rpm?

Since my car is at my dads hes looking at it and put in another spark plug.He drove it around the block and it did'nt knock?what is going on.When it did knock that was just after i revved it.

If any part of the plug dropped into the cylinder then that will cause a small knock, know a person who thought he had a screwed bottom end, pulled it apart and it was just a small bit of hose clamp someone had carelessly cut and dropped in the carby... Fingers crossed!

After a few days at 300hp mine developed a missfire which has now progressed to a stage where the car wont idle..

I'm not sure if it gives more power or not as I did alot of mods at once turbo,ex manifold etc

It gives it a meaty exhaust note but it's got to go,time for some stock mani love :D

    • Are these the Dmax ones you are in reference too? https://justjap.com/collections/driveshafts-bearings/products/d-max-reinforced-replacement-rear-driveshaft-set-fits-nissan-s13-s14-s15-r32-r33-r34-c35#description Not a bad idea to get the uni flange ones. I have sent just jap an email too. Will see what they say lmao. Only thing is the Dmax ones are on a big back order. Low key anything will be better then my OEM ones I got as they are sounding like popcorn when I go under load lmao 😂☠️🪦.
    • They should do. I have S14 (or something S chassis, anyway) driveshafts in my R32 (because my diff flanges have 3x2). They're the right length. When you go looking for R32/3/4 driveshafts (for turbos), they're all the same thing, so are the same length. So there really shouldn't be any reason why those cheapies from JJ won't also fit an R34. R32/3 NA should also be the same thing. The (3x the price) D-Max ones are uni-fit. They have 5x1 and 3x2 bolt holes and say they cover all the cars. So that would also suggest that they are all the same except for the flanges. And in that case, the flange goes both ways. I'd be buying the D-Max ones if I ever have to replace a shaft. Because that will open up diff options without needing to juggle shafts also. Juggling shafts is gay.
    • Yeah with the adaptors they do look like the photo above - just the fitment within the plenum itself and then further with the rail to the intake is questionable - we shall see tomorrow hopefully once I get some replies from Aeroflow, maybe those bosses are the missing piece....
    • Should be fine, if you have it sitting too far in, you end up just spraying the walls and have shit idle. You "can" run them like that, however I don't think it's a great idea (also depends on your plenum, might be good to just get the injector bosses first, mock it up and see if you need to get the bottom extension) Ideally your injectors, with the extension should look like this  (Not my photos, just Google)
    • Thanks for the replies guys, it's really appreciated.  It seems the kit was supposed to come with those injector bosses but hasn't. Unsure if they'll help as even with the adaptors to make them a 3/4 height injector they still sit too far out so mount the fuel rail?
