hi im trying to get a graph up... umm the tuner reckoned he couldnt stop it knocking at 18psi no matter wat he did... thats y its only 16, thats weired aye.. its alittle laggy

Well id be inclined to run a Bosch fuel pump, and run the std manifold. Pinging at 18psi seems a little strange...did he suggest the reson why it was pinging..

he said i should get some plugs a heat range colder...

are u talking about a standard exhaust manifold?

they just cheap weld n grind cams, standard cam gears..

a strange thing is the cas if nearly fully turned anti clockwise (Advanced?)

I would most definitely be checking the cam timing. Ensure it has been setup correctly and then drop a set of adj cam gears on it and see how u go.

How is the power curve when it wants to ping? Does it want to only ping at a certian rpm range? i.e in my case 4000rpm

I have had valve float issues where i bumped boost up and it would always want to ping at 4000rpm + the power curve would go flat from then onwards.

The last I highly doubt. But a few things to look at.

Hey RB power...what is your car like to drive on the streets?

tail happy?

Do you have any suspension/brake mods to match, 238rwkw is alot to stop with standard brakes :woot::blink:

just quickly....

whats everyone got their rev limiter set at??

since i got the highflow and having full boost at 4000rpm i hit the rev limiter alot!!!

i just dont feel power loss to change gear

street, 6800rpm

track 7500rpm

roy uses a nice rev limit

LOL...i keep mine at around 8,300rpm. I dont rev 3rd and 4th that hard, but i sure do rev 1st and 2nd gear out to make sure that when i grab the next cog i have as many revs on board as possible. The difference between 4,000rpm and 5,000rpm on my engine is proabably about 100rwkws so worth revving out the lower gears to fall into the meat of the power curve

If your turbo can flow the air, the std cams dotn seem to fall off too abruptly....mine still feels as though its pullign pretty well at 8,000rpm. i thnk it makes about 210rwkws at thoe revs?!?!?!

got the same problem as roy, need to keep the revs nice and high to bypass the lag. mines set at 7500 and is still climbing rather well. cams would definately help but might look at raising it another 300 or so.

i was revving to 8.5 on the old motor before she went.

proly will take the rebuild to a max of 8.3, but this time round with uprated oilpump and valve springs to suit.

gotta remember that rb20's are short oil drive motors so the posibility to destroy the oil pump is very good at high rpms/hp.

hey it seams to be ok alittle loose...lol....stock brakes and suspension apart from lowered springs and drift pinapples lol

my revs are set a 7000 rpm

what year was car? and how many km had it done before it let go?

also, were u driving it everyday at 8000+rpm?

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
