legend01
Hi Guys latest update New exhaust is on and retuned made a little more power but what its got now is how it stays thinks its past the limits of the standard plenum. Heres lastest dyno done this afternoon. Cubes
What cams are you running? Still running std valve springs? Turbo simply is out of puff/efficiency at that boost level? Sky30's RB30DET is running around with a std RB20DET plenum and making 312rwkw @18-19psi, that has no issues apart from the stock log exhaust manifold being a restriction. Its running a big internal gate diesel .82 machined to suit a GT35R. legend01
Id say on the rb30 with the length of the stroke it would have a lot more sucken and blowing power and the bigger pistons would help it along to, just my ideas on it though cheers Peter Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/58229-top-rb20-club-do-you-have-over-260rwkw/page/57/#findComment-2042881 Share on other sites
Cubes
Hrmm.. Under boost motor doesn't suck. It does blow the turbo up but that doesn't have any affect on how the plenum performs. I've seen this type of power curve occur with the old Sigma turbo's where the heads airflow capability is limited. Bigger cams, more lift and more overlap were required to keep the power creeping up as rpm increased. I'm assuming your running a 3.5" exhaust and stiffer valve springs. Is it possible the turbo's runing in to choke at 18psi for that airflow/power? GT3076R tends to be pretty much 270 maybe 300rwkw with a well breathing motor. I've seen 3040's push slightly over 300rwkw. But still... 280rwkw rb20det. Damn impressive. legend01
It is a GT3040r with 82 exhaust housings .But the part i like is it holds the 280 for near 2ooorpm then hits rev limmit b4 power drops of but im happy with that level of power just gotta try getting the smile of me face its begining to hurt Edited March 23, 2006 by legend01 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/58229-top-rb20-club-do-you-have-over-260rwkw/page/57/#findComment-2043091 Share on other sites
Cubes
As I said.. Its awesome power. hrmm I wonder how it would go with 272duration cams with a solid lifter conversion kit running some decent lift. grim32
Congrats on the result. Should give it a power run in front of dave and show him rb20s can make more than 200kw Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/58229-top-rb20-club-do-you-have-over-260rwkw/page/57/#findComment-2043231 Share on other sites

jnr32r
well its nearly all done, just a few more bits, this is the engine that i hope to crack 300RWKW+ with. will it happen, u bet it will. its taken so long and its only a week or so away from dyno run in and full power tune. anxiously waitin !! i would not recommend those cam pulleys tho 30K Kms saw my teeth wear about 0.5mm. HKS have a new set where they use a harder material for the outer ring.... FATGTS-R
Great result. Yet another RB20 over 280rwkw!!!!! What rpm is the 22psi reached? Interesting curve. As mentioned its doubtful the plenum is the culprit, the Group A GTSRs ran with the standard plenum although its likely they had a bit of a porting throughout, or not? What are the total exhaust mods? Maybe try a power run with it dropped just to rule it out? legend01
Full boost by 6000rpm i think he said and the exhaust mod was a hks cat back exhaust 3.5inch .Not gonna worry about doing anything else for a while just gonna enjoy driving it for now . Rev cut is set to 7700 but it is a intresting curve as it keeps to 280kw right to rev limet havent seen that on another dyno run as yet and didnt wanna take it past that to see if it kept going, all in all quite happy with the result at the moment Cheers Peter Edited March 23, 2006 by legend01 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/58229-top-rb20-club-do-you-have-over-260rwkw/page/57/#findComment-2044003 Share on other sites
Roy
Man, congrats on the results...that is awesome. Cant wait to see a std engiend RB20 pull an 11. WIth far leses power then you i was able to get up around 115mph, but i suck off the line...you look good to get well into the 11s if you can maintain your previous 60ft time and combine it with some 118mph action Awesome! Roy
Yo everyone, just wondering if any of the RB20 owners with over 240rwkw have had engine failures or mechanical troubles when used in a circuit/drift enviroment? reason i ask is my rb20 just made 258rwkw @18psi (mods are listed here:) http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...ic=103095&st=20 but the tuner recommended i only run with around 1 bar not because the tune wasnt safe, (it was detonation free at 18psi) but because the sheer mechanical strength of the motor could not take that sort of power continuously ie lots of revlimiter action in drift. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated, especially from roy & other RB20 heros who use there cars in circiut or drift where are they are given a pounding.Cheers. So many variables. I say take it easy, start at 14psi, and slowly wind it up looking constantly at the condition of the oil, water and oil temps etc. I have ran 234 at 18psi without probs at the track, but I tend to back off when water and oil temops get too high...about 4 mins of driving Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/58229-top-rb20-club-do-you-have-over-260rwkw/page/57/#findComment-2044395 Share on other sites
