seems to be running at low boost

im just wondering y my skyline runs only at approx 4 psi rather than 7-8

does anyone know y this is so?

my car is a stock r33 series 2

hey mine seems to be doing the same the last 2 days its been running below that line on the standard boost gauge? could id be dodgy fuel i did use fuel form 7 eleven was ina rush i normially use bp fuel

You might have a boost leak check all you hoses etc

i might be pointing out the obvious but u do know ur stock boost guage doesnt read in psi rite?? so 4-5 sounds about right on the old "skyline boost richter scale" boost guage.

My Skyline I just bought recently is a Automatic, and only seems to be running 4PSI boost.

From memory in stock form doesn't it only run 4-5psi up until ~4,000rpm and then above that it goes to 7psi?

i am not 100% sure of the numbers but benm is right

my understanding though is it will run 5psi up to 4,500rpm then from then on it will go up to 7psi

well i didnt know that my boost guage wasnt in psi what is it in then?. there is a line half way up i normially just get past that when flat to the floor? is that right

yeah..i did not know that it wasn't in psi either...

the stock gauge on my skyline also hits about half way between 0 and 7

is that suppose to be right??

i had the same problem it says its only running 4psi but i connected after maket boost gauge it says 7

The factory gauge is in "mmHg" (Millimeters of Mercury).

1 psi = 51.71 mmHg (0.06 bar)

7 psi = 362 mmHg (0.48 bar)

12 psi = 620.52 mmHg (0.72 bar)

14.5psi = 1,023 mmHg (1.00 bar)

The factory boost gauge is rated to "7" (x100 mmHg) = 700mmHg

So that means:

7psi (factory boost) = 362 mmHg (about 50% up the gauge).

12psi (limit of factory turbo) = 620 mmHg (about 95% up the gauge).

14.5psi (1 bar) = flat lining on the "7+" (time to get a better boost gauge).

Their we go, learnt something myself.

Have a 95 gtst with std air bag wheel and std ceramic turbo with a few minimal mods.
