Teh 'Going Home' thread...

Recommended Posts

On behalf of Troyone, I'm starting this thread so that we can try and make him feel better about leaving this fantastic, slovenly, fibtalatious country that is J-land.

My first question is:

"So Troyone, are you going to be able to adjust to life back at Mum and Dads place?" hehehehe :D

:D

It'll be great, mum will pamper me with so much home cooking and I'll be happy to jump on the ride on mower to do the lawns for dad.

As for re-adjusting...Aust doesn't change much :D, except for the nazi road rules and regulations!

Dave, the Evo is coming home :). Too bad you didn't get a chance for a ride. But do not fear another Evo may emerge soon ;). Aust better be ready for the Silver beast, unleash...look out for it at a circuit near you ;)...

Actually the first thing I hope to hear is welcome home!!!

Funny thing happened the last time I went home...how do you know who's a tourist? While getting off the plane there was a stewardess greeting all the passengers...either Konichiwa or welcome to Australia. But I was surprised when I was greeted with Welcome home Sir! Wow how did she know? Did I have such a grin or relief on my face to be home. Those who live overseas for a extended period of time will notice these small things and realise how special it is to come home.

I know it's not the same Japan is home too. It would be lie if I did not miss the place even for all the troubles I've had. 1/6 of my life is living in Japan, arriving way back in 1999 as a young 24yo, I can still remember the day I touched down and had NFI where I was or who was going to pick me up. Then I see a little Japanese fella holding up a sign Mitsubishi Electric Aust. Mr. Lee. The years have indeed passed by fast, and it's now almost 2005.

One of the biggest things I've found with Evo's (any of them really) is that they can't be complied in Australia (the Evo 6.5 and 7/8 were sold there so you can't bring in the same body shape - direct competition to locally sold models AFAIK) so that means instant street cred if you have a III, IV or V, add to that their ability on the track, the 4-door convenience, the ENDLESS amount of tuning parts and most of all... the fact that Troy has one. I wanna be like Troy :D

Grant,

I'm Australian.

I won't know how it feels to be home for good until I finally get home but I'm looking forward to it :D. However Justin reckons I'll be back soon once I get my first defect or speeding ticket ...argh! Touch wood!

In another thread, I've metioned I may be home for only a week :D. Another job has come up to head overseas again.

However Justin reckons I'll be back soon once I get my first defect or speeding ticket ...argh! Touch wood!

Now when I was back in the UK in September, it was crazy....so many speed cameras...they were everywhere (kinda like WRX's :D :D )

Driving in Japan you rarely have to watch your speedo, but over in the UK I found myself watching it like a hawk.

and I won't even mention god damned speed bumps... :D

Evo 6's just got compliability... and 7s have been complianceable for a while...

they have sufficiently different chassis structures (read 4wd and rear guards was what it came down to) to classify as SEVS. 3,4,5 chassies are all the same as a lancer with bolt on guards, so they don't count apparently.

still, an Evo's an Evo.
