Im the onlt one brave enough to say what everybody is thinking...for 8-10k you can get yourself a prime XP Falcon Coupe, or VF Valiant Coupe:)

My old Val was a bucket of sh1t, really it was, but the girls digged it. They see me in my R32 and they all think im a pretentious wanker:( Old school cool cars are fun to drive, fun to own, you can spin tyres easy enough when you want a bit of fun...and you sell them for the same money you buy them.:P

Only pron is with super prices being what they are, you may have to get an LPG conversion:(

I'd prefer something a little bit unique, so no pulsars, falcons or barinas.... i might consider a lancer.
haha well you're contradicting yourself a little bit there :P

a lancers the most non-unique thing u could get!! not to mention being a little on the errr gutless side..

as mentioned already, a Pulsar SSS example would be a good choice, also a Laser TX3 coupe (non turbo cos that's what you're after) example. Both look good, have a bit of street cred (u won't get laughed at like you would in a hyundai coupe heh) and have pretty good performance.

Another (cheaper!) option is a Corolla Seca SX example ...plenty of money left over for other things, 100kw...

all 3 have base cars that a very popular so servicing and parts should be cheap and easy :)

i've read in many places that the 1.6 mx5's are very disapointing for the money. but you dont buy something like that for performance, just that you can drive it without a roof!

Celica convertable imported is similar money but looks a lot better on paper and there are very few around........better performace (4WS :D)

hey what about an old skool celica, RWD one.

All the cars mentioned above (except for the r32 or ae86 with 10k of mods) are gutless boring cops!

Has anyone owned a turbo s13/180sx? They are leagues better than the FWD brigade abovementioned.

Though, echelon9, if you dont want to die as easily or have as much fun, best stick to the lancer.

we just imported an AE92 Levin, supercharged 1.6L FWD, and its farken aweeeesome. Screw the RWD pundits that say you can't have fun in a FWD. Its got so much lodown torqu (even tho its a bit gutless on the topend). Its got a clutch activated supercharger (aftermarket) so you can turn it on and off (love to see you turbo guys do that). It keeps up with a V8 SS Commonwhore from 1-100 but then it falls back.

Absolutely awesome street car for use in metro areas and very awesome fun to drive. Dosen't understeer as much as normal FWD and once the supercharger really bites it pulls you out of trouble usually. The one one of the guys owns smokes it in 3rd gear hehe the look on peoples faces when this oldish lookin corolla smokes up the fornt wheels thru the gearchanges...

Have to go for the N14 SSS! Girlfriend has one and i love driving it (when she's not around! :P ) So much easier to drive round town and uses less fuel than the GTR (don't get me wrong, i love my car more). She's got cat back exhaust, 17" rims and lowered. Looks awesome, goes well, number of people have asked to buy it...but she ain't selling it. I owned a 92 prelude before and it doesn't compare to the SSS!

    • I'd say closer to OG GTX3582R, just smaller trim - so 59mm inducer/82mm exducer as opposed to 62/82 for the first gen GTX3582R. Yeah EFRs were boss, the EFR8474 is still an absolute beast and it perplexes me that people still go to things like Turbosmart/Garrett etc when the results people are getting with those are pretty unremarkable compared to what you could get with a turbo available well before those options came out.  DriftSquid (I think) "upgraded" from an EFR9174 to a Turbosmart turbo and promised a comparison video - and kinda shuffled awkwardly and did a bit of diversion from the fact that they didn't get any improvement going to the currently massively hyped brand of turbo from a turbo that was a bit of a frankenstein that had been well superceded in it's own range before the Turbosmart unit he put on there even came out. I suspect the EFR would outperform most Xonas for what a lot of less-insane RB owners would go for, in the 400-600kw range but the Xonas are looking hard to beat up to maybe in the mid 700kw range at this stage- basically where EFRs don't really reach, and before the Precision turbos take over.  What the Xonas do well in the "EFR range" is be easier to package etc, and work very well if a divided housing doesn't suit your application.
    • Are you sure the gasket is blown? What are the issues? Thermocure is the only flush I've seen do anything with rust, very impressed with that, Prestone, rust will be by the pool having a cigarette.
    • And since the flush you have a blown head gasket? Have you lifted the head off yet?
