Hey Guys,

I am sure this has been around before, but I gave up searching for it after 30 mins.

Can someone please tell me the difference between the standard and type M on the R32.

My understanding from maggala is;

- 4 piston brakes.

- bigger turbo (what is the turbo?)

- Stronger LSD (what is the LSD? Is it a 2 2way or anything like that?)

Does HICAS come on all 32's? Only Type M's? Or was it an option on any of them?

Thanks

Chris

Turbo is the same, Yes the larger 4 pot brakes, also 5 stud instead of 4 stud hubs.

Non type m is basically a gts with a turbo motor, so it has the gts suspension as well rather than the gtst suspension eg smaller sway bars etc.

I have an early non-type m and thats pretty much the case.. very small brakes.. but still LSD. Its pretty easy to upgrade the brakes to the 4 pot for pretty cheaply so its no real problem.

Mine has a different steering wheel (not too bad anyhow), no sideskirts, and also has the analogue climate control.

It has HICAS, and I believe if its an R32 of any type, it came with HICAS.

The Type M was the GTS-t marketed at buyers who wanted a GTR but couldn't foot the bill.

Hence it had:

- the GTR style (but narrower) wheels

- 4 spot brakes

- digital climate

- GTR style steering wheel

AFAIK all the GTS-t's has HICAS & Viscous LSD whether they were M's or not

The GTS Type S is the non-turbo equivalent to the Type M

I've got an early 4dr Type M with the extra options of ABS, driving lights, projector headlights & electric front spoiler

r32s with HICAS: gts type s, gts-t, gts-t type m, gts-4 and gtr

gtst has power steering powered system... gts4 and gtr have hydraulic system

download "the sky is the limit" pdf on meggala, this is where i got the above

the GTR style (but narrower) wheels

Thats not true, as I have the "GTR" style wheels and mine is non m-spec.. basically every turbo skyline i have seen has the 5 spoke jobbies.. I have seen them in diagrams with flat style riims, but never seen them over here I don't think.

You have Type M wheels. Mine came with R33 wheels when I bought it, doesn't mean it had them from the factory though :D

Almost (I repeat almost, not all) all R32's imported to Oz will be Type M's (or modified to be like M's). Actually, I think that Type Ms outsold the basic GTS-t when they were new. Funky could prob clear this up for us.

rrrage, whats the diff between powersteering (hydraulic) powerd HICAS & hydraulic? Does the GTR/GTS-4 have a separate system/reservoir? I know that in the GTS-t the HICAS runs off the reservoir in the engine bay... My knowledge of GTR's suck teh arse :P
