Hi All

A while back, a mate and i won a short shifter at Jamboree, and we installed it in his S14a, and had problems with it rattling ALOT. We contacted the manufacturer and he had a look at it and after a fair while we figured out that it didn't fit the S14a properly. Anyway, we've now decided to put it in my '32, and, sure enough, it rattles (nowhere near as bad as in the S14 though) and you can hear a 'sucking' sound, as well as gear noise coming through it.

Now, its full metal construction (except for the nylon bush on the end) which i thought was probably the source of the oil 'sucking' sound, and the gear noise - lack of insulation, but i had another idea presented to me last night, which frankly, has me a little concerned.

it was put to me that perhaps the shifter is TOO short, and not letting the gears engage fully, hence more gear noise. Now, if that was the case, you'd expect it to jump out of gears, etc, wouldn't u? It seems to slot into gears okay, and i havent had it jump out yet (only installed it last night)...

Just wondering other peoples opinions on this.

Oh, i can't for the life of me remember the brand... it was 'x' something i think. Hardcore Racing in brisbane sell them.

Thanks for your help

Jason
