Hey dudes,

pretty much i'm lookin at buying a car that i will only use as a track car. It is already in australia, registered in qld but i'm thinkin of bringin it down to VIC, leave it unregistered and just use it at the track.

Now i was wondering is there any sort of permit u can get that will allow me to drive my car to and from events. I think CAMS has some sort of this thing somewhere in there licensing details, but i couldnt find it. So is there any cams license that will allow me to drive my car directly to and from events.

And speaking of cams who would i speak to off these forums if i wished to become an official sau member, which will make me eligable for a cams license.

Cheers guys

Simon

i think you can get a discounted registration, that lets you take classic, etc cars out on weekends or during organised events.

if the car isnt street legal, i dont think they will let you drive to an fro events. trailer time.

just my understanding, which could well be unfounded, etc.

Drop me a line. I have a wad of CAMS and SAU Vic forms sitting on my desk.

I know Vic roads have permits for stuff liek that and I remember seeing a "single trip" section which I think would be for this kind of thing. Give them a call and they will sort you out.

$50 a year for SAU Vic (plus $20 joining fee) and $80 for your L2S CAMS Licence, cheapest in Vic I think you'll find, cheers.

If you have ANY cam's license, then you can apply for a Rally Permit. Its allows you to take your car to and from ANY Cam's events (so a cams registered Skyline cruise is fine), and dosen't require the car to be road legal.

Failing that just get a A-Frame and tow the car behind your skyline ;) Its what I'll be doin with my race use AE86. I've got access to trade plates too so I can drive around on them to and from events and workshops etc.
