Another point is you can run the drag radials on a 16/17 inch rim and run your every day tyres on the front but with the cross ply slicks like Mickey Thompson ET Street or ET you have the added cost of front runners and tyres which soon makes the cost of one pair of radials for the rear not as dear

By the way my best 60 foot was the last one I did and 1.59 then crunched 2nd gear bad and pulled out. If I kept it together would have been a 10.7 or 10.6. Always a next time.

Ran out of fuel and night and thrown out until roll cage. Not bad for a rear wheel drive only boat. 4WD even better they say?

Some interesting reading here.... we have some on the back of the S14 and to be honest have been quite disapointed with them :):( We are running 15psi in them and i am already getting a sway up the top end so not really wanting to drop the pressures much more..... what are other peoples experiences with them while running 12-14psi in them..... are they getting much of a sway in the top end???

best 60 footer to date is a 1.89 i think it was...... we are using the 255/50/16 and they are mounted on stock S14a wheels. Do you guys feel it could be the lack of wheel width that is hindering the car running a decent 60 footer??

Suspension tune would be my first guess. What springs and shocks are you running? What is the spring rate? What toe do you have on the rear? Diff cradle bushes? Stabiliser bar?

:)

We have tried it on Bilstein shocks and 2" lowered King springs, no idea of rate though I do feel they are be a little tough.... tried it on brand new standard S15 rear shocks and springs with the Bilsteins in the front and it ended up running the 1.86 finally but it still wasnt squatting and taking off as good as i would like.... next i was going to try some worn out standard S14a shocks and springs and see what that does. Seems everyone with similar power has been running standard suspension with great results..... to be honest no idea of rear alignment angles, it was something i hadnt thought of apart from camber which has been removed with camber arms..... diff cradle is solid mounted. When i say solid, i mean spun alluminium bushes and a standard R32 GTR sway bar and complete R32 GTR rear end.

Something you may not be aware of is that this S14 is actually powered by an RB26 making about 360rwkw.... i knew it was going to be a bitch to set up but just need some ideas to try out as i have vnever really run any decent numbers in any car i have owned.......

Explain your username then please?!?!?!?!? :)

I use Mickey Thompson ET Drag on my M Coupe and they are great.

Sizes I'll leave for a Skyline owner to comment since mine aren't relevant to you. Suffice to say you want the tallest and widest slick you can fit.

Just noticed this - sorry Kenny but I have to disagree with you on the tyre height issue. Having too tall a tyre can ruin accelleration and make you go slower.

Everyone should visit a site like Richmond Gears in the states and use their calculators.

Adrian, I re-disagree! you should fit the tallest and widest slicks you can fit and then use a different diff ratio or gearbox ratios (or combination) to get the right total gearing.

Nothing beats the biggest possible rubber for traction!
