OK, I love my GTR but I've been looking at Corvettes lately and would really love to get one, unfortunately its LHD. Are we allow to drive LHD cars in Australia? This one is the C5. Would love to take this car back. Its unique, fast, not too thirsty for fuel, has lotsa space. It reminds me of 300zx, except more gruntier, beefier if you know what I mean. Australia doesn't seem to have cars like this.

Another question, can I take home a car that's already sold locally in Australia? A friend is selling her Nissan S15 Silvia pretty cheaply, can I import this car into Australia personally (if I meet the personal import regulations - keeping the car for 1 year etc etc).

Any personal import success stories?

Legislation from state-to-state differs. Western Australia is the most 'LHD-friendly' state, although I think they are either changing, or have recently changed, their legislation in regards to LHD cars.

In pretty much all the other states you will have to convert the car unless you apply for some sort of special restrictive registration.

LW.
