hey ppl, i jus blew the turbo on my R33 GTS-t this afternoon...

I was wondering if anyone would know the best replacment for this type of car before i go out and blow all my money on a replacement. i dont want one that has no boost till redline either... i want power from down low, so i guess a smaller turbo will be the answer? but which one?

any help appreciated, thanks.

hiflow from gcg sydney. will rebuild your core/bearings and allow you to run more boost. wil match stock manifold,dump/front pipe and easy bolt off and bolt back no swap no messing around. should allow you to run 18psi as it has replaced bearings, compressor wheel etc,, speak to gcg in sydney, i think going price is about 1800. you send it your busted turbo, pay 1800 and it comes back "hiflowed".

also it will have same spool up response as your stocker turbo (ie: very good). the series 2 is fast to wind up, usually it can spin 12psi before 2900rpm

the series 2 turbo is a stock gt25 item im pretty sure

yeah brand new is different story to hiflow as you already have the housing etc.

the max stock series 2 efficicency is about 12psi, with hiflow is about 18psi

have seen someone run about 20psi but it didnt make any more power than 19psi but could be due to injecors, ecu etc... lots of many factors

check out the sydneykid config, he uses hiflow, can't beat it for $$$ and response

last page, last post. stocker turbo response and lots of power

if you fitted a hks/trust/apexi/samsung/xyz turbo chances are it wont have some low end response and will also require change to oil/water lines/manifold dump pipe etc

my friend sent her MR2 turbo to them the other week and she got it back and it was matched completly wrong to the motor.. like surging when your on boost and accelrating...

i have heard they do really good work on skyline turbo's though, just giving you a heads up thats all.

Sounds like it has been fitted with a leak if its hunting... all hoses pipes etc. snizen?

Would have to be convinced it is a turbo fault, weather too big or not. More like the new levels of performance are making the engine run lean??

Anyhow, ring the guys and if it is their problem they will move mountains to fix it... like most specialist turbo people their work is tops... There may be others round as good - I just haven't dealt with 'em. Call em before you bag em tiger.

TT
