whining turbo

as the title says my rb20 standard turbo has started to make a whining noise? any ideas as to what has happened to make it do this?

DOnt worry bout it mine has 4 the last year and it still goes hard and chicks the sound!

if it sounds like a siren, but not as loud. Your centre bearing has failed causing the compressor wheel to rub the inside of the housing. Result....a rebuild for your turbo.Paul...DIRTgarage.

mine sounds like a P.E whistle on high pitch. im hoping its just an exhaust leak/ turbo gasket.

okay lets not freak this guy out !

a whinning sound is nufin mine whinnes loud it sounds mad , its boostin good makes good power.

my whinning T28 has been on and off the car on numerous occasions it has been checked once off the car and its fine... drive it untill it goes thats my theory plenty of ppl had same issue with R32 T28 they can continue lasting its alright............................i have been through hell n bak with my engine down heaps to it but the only advice which i could give but which i never listen to altho i should is DONT FIX NUTTING UNLESS IS FAULTY

it's all good, car's not daily driven and will be going to a rb25 turbo in the next few months anyway! didn't want to do harm to the engine just yet. thanks guys
