LoL Guys don’t be so hard on him. 2-5 years time is a very long time frame mate (Next month seems to take for ever to me) your 15, I take it you want a skyline for your p's (2 years time), trust us all, the rate these restrictions are going, especially here in Vic, you simply wont have a Skyline on your P's because it will be illegal. Get a S13, or a 180, even with a CA18 will give you enough power for the first 3-4 years and if you really want more, just change the spark plugs, ignition leds and air filter and you will have another 30Hp to play around with. You also need to think more logic, just because you can afford the car doesn’t mean you will be able to afford to maintain it. You will need petrol, insurance, tires ect. And that’s enough with out throwing a turbo, or Skyline for that matter into the equation. So get the R33 off your mind for now, get a job these summer holidays to keep you busy and start saving for you first car.

The laws have changed drastically over the past 2 years regarding young kids and High performance vehicles, and by the looks of it, its only gonna get tougher in the comming years, mate have you considered costs of even running a turbo car?? let alone the insurance which will cost an arm and a leg to someone with no driving experience, thats if you can find a company that will insure you. theres nothing wrong with starting off with a cheap NA s13 or 180. and judging by your first post you would be after a 33GTR, for someone who will be 17 insurance on that will be almost what the car is worth if you can get it insured, just get a cheap run around for a year or so and just learn how to handle a car and get more experience under your bealt.

hang on a second....if you guys look at the top i said, what about a 180 and some guy said to me its still to much power... its not like i'd kill myself, i have had expirence under the wheel befor, i mean sure 2-10times isnt enough exp but its a start, and i dont even have enough money for a R33, its just a childhood dream, im sure you guys had a dream car when you were younger too.

wow, now that is funny. ever thought of being a comedian? lets hope not because you really suck.,

Oh great start  And welcome..

You see, most members here are laid back, and like to joke around. By name calling you're setting yourself up for a fall pretty soon~

Just a side note; this forum eats and spits out 13-15 year old dreamers by the bucketload on a school-holiday basis once their dreams of owning a "fully sik drift-spec R33 with all da neons and bov bro" were shot down by a little thing we shall call " r e a l i t y ".

Some questions for ya:

1) Can you afford the initial purchase cost for the 'Liner/180SX/S13 Silvia? If you can't, lay back and learn as much as you can from the great tech-related threads this forum has (its a great information resource :D) and try contributing in some way, you'll be more welcomed than by posting "I want to buy a skyline". If you can afford it however, read on (you'd read on anyway...)

2) Can you afford the insurance, fuel, fines associated with owning an import, cop attention, bad media hype, possible target for thieves and being public enemy #1 because you drive an import? If you can't, go back to learning as much as you can from this forum  If you can, all the luck to you, just don't do anything stupid like drag race on streets..No tossers allowed here

Good luck on the road to (possible) Skyline ownership,

prae

Makining new mates are what forums are partially about and hate to say it little buddy but your not off to a very good start.....

If you join a forum you need to learn how to accept criticism and a joke

:newbie:

Welcome to the forums D-G. Watch out for the trolls - apperantly they like to pick on kids.

A good learning car is something that will let you put your foot down to the floor and take 5 minutes to get to 60km/h. This is simply because the younger you are the more you drive like a go-cart (unless you actually race go-karts).

A N/A silvia would probably be a good compromise between something too fast, to something that won't give you any road feedback (newish ford laser for example). I think both of these are equally dangerous.

Having said that 140kw is a heck of a lot mate. I plowed my first car into a tree at 130km/h and it had 80kw at the engine. I was lucky to walk away but if I had the car I have now which is probably spot on 200rwkw I'd be a statistic and not much to fill in my coffin.

It's all chance. The more you reduce the chance of something bad happening the greater your odds. There will always be those that defy the odds either way (like the kids who never drove but got run over the one time a year they stepped outta the house, or those who had a skyline as a first car, drove it every day and never crashed).

The thing to remember though is if you have a fast car you can go fast. If you don't, you can't. Considering speed is a factor in deaths, if you can't get there quicker you're safer.

Either way. Good luck!

Yeah, i relised that people love to pick on younger ones like me, oh well i dont care.

Thanks for the information (to the guys that are helping me out) i appriciate it heaps.

Theres nothing like getting knowlegde from High performance car owners. so once again thanks!

yeah chap...lighten up!If you cant take a joke your not going to last long around here!Anyway....would you like to go for a ride in my car?i have some boiled lollies around here somewhere....

hahah u being serious?

lets gooo!

u live in melb? n wot do u drive?

man this aint fair.... what kind of car is good for a first then, you guys have all gone through it so you all know what im going through right now... S13 was on my mind for a little while... but if you guys could give me some ideas it would help me out heaps!

ok well how much do S13 go for now dayz? and any chance they will drop even more in price?

how much does insurence on them cost?

Mate, while your enthusiasm is great, this thread is getting old and covers off alot of information that has been posted on these boards many many times.

and this thread is just going in circles, why not check the classifieds for the S13 sale prices... and them check them again in 3 years when you want to buy. Also why not ring an insurance company to find out....

better yet go to www.nissansilvia.com these guys will help you out....

what he means by old is that over holidays all the school kiddies come in here and ask the same questions

well thats not why i came here.

i like skylines, can you tell me why your here?

im sure everyone on the here is on for the same reason otherwise there wouldnt be this forum right now would there.

it would be nice if you guys stopped giving me shit and just get on with it.

i came here to just talk and everytime i ask a QUESTION i keep getting shit about im young and stupid. dont like me or my age then stop replying to my threads.

    • No idea about the remote start part. If the V37 nav is anything like other Nissan JDM vehicles, you can't get the factory Japanese nav working in australia, a card from a different car almost certainly won't work, those cards are usually matched to the serial number of the DCU.  You could be possibly swap out the components from a AuDM Q50 to get it working, but if this is a new model (2021+) 400R, then you will lose the newer features like ACP/AA.  That said, if you have ACP/AA, just use google maps.. I assume a band expander would be required to get the local radio stations, but don't forget the Japanese FM band is narrower than ours, so you still might not be able to receive all Australian stations. I can't see any reason the tyre pressure sensors won't work here, there is the sensor unit inside the rim and the receiver nearby in the wheel well.  I have never had to change the batteries on my 2015 Q50, so I assume they last quite a while.  A straight battery change shouldn't need them to be re-registered as they are the same unit, that should only be required if you replace a sensor with a new one.   Word of warning, if you ever go into the 'secret' diagnostics mode on the main screen, DO NOT EVER do a 'reset' in this menu, it will erase all of your model specific data in the DCU and you will need a trip to a dealer to re-program it all, which would be particularly painful being an import.  This applies to the AuDM Q50 too.
    • There is a known issue with the mix door motor on the Q50 which causes these symptoms, not sure if it is common on the Y51 though.
    • That ring thing is interesting how it's holding everything together
    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
