Hey guys,

Some of you are already familiar with the R32 GT-R I recently purchased through Prestige Motorsport. The car is now in the garage undergoing a fair bit of work!

There are pictures of my progess in the gallery.

Can anyone identify what intercooler that is?

As far as i can tell the worst of the damage is to the front RH rail (pic in gallery) which has a slight ripple in it, and looks to have been pushed back by about 10-20mm or so. The centre of the radiator support (at the bottom) is back by around 20-30mm.

This should be quite repairable by heating the rail and slowly pulling it back out into shape. I don't think a new support panel is required (thank god, i hate doing radiator support work)

The story given to me by the supplier (accident happened on a dirt road) is consistent with the damage, as it looks to be a wide frontal impact, rather than a point impact. The amount of japanese dirt in there is unbelievable.

The back seat is loose, and there are no seat belts in the back whatsoever..

I do not know how this car passed quarantine.

- Shaft play does not seem excessive, bearings appear to run smoothly

hehe, ive seen your car on PM, nice car btw. if i remember accurately, the car also blows white smoke eh ?

i was told blowing black smoke, probably due to hole in intercooler - considering the hole in the cooler is massive i'm not surprised - this will cause a whacked AFM signal..

Can anyone tell me how to fix this gallery problem, i have another 20 pics i would love to add, especially some close ups of the chassis rail and radiator support

I knew it was damaged.. I guess it hasn't really surprised me yet,

I'm hoping that the engine/transmission/clutch are all in good order..

Has anyone heard of a computer that says "GRID" on it?

I think i managed to get all of the photos working in the gallery now.. some of them have been duplicated though.

I actually got it running yesterday - taped up holes in intercooler and started it. Ran like a bucket of shit (as i expected) there are probably still lots of leaks in the air flow path, looked like it was running rich as buggery, and sounded like only 3 or 4 cylinders..

Going to do a compression test soon..

Also looks suspiciously like a R34 GT-R Intercooler, here is a pic:

The mounts and top bracket all look identical.

looks like an easy fixer.....but your changing the lower rad support right?They are quite cheap to buy new....it might end up a better job if you changed it......

has the rail gone back into the bulkhead at all or is it just the tips of the rail?Would be nice to get it up on a bench just to check the underbody measurements eitheir way...or are you just gunna pull it on a flat rack?

I have put one more photo in my gallery that is a low front on shot. The front subframe is untouched. I'm sure the lower support could be fixed, but if one is easily available it will be replaced.

I would like to check the underbody measurements properly, it's no use fixing it by half. As far as pulling it, we haven't decided exactly how to do that yet, either on a rack or with a porta-power or something similar.

Do you know of a good source for a lower radiator support?
