My question is what would you go for..

You can get a very nice 2000 model R34 in 4 door Turbo for just over $23'000 from http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/

*I have never imported but from looking at the saving you get would think about it.

Or a 1990 R32 GTR 5 speed for Under $20'000

The GTR is also from http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/

Insurance is no problem..

I think it comes down to the age of the car... a GTR is damn fast.. and a 1990 thats imported could have done alot of k's.. alot more than id care to know..

a R34 Turbo would be damn new and how much kw do they put out in stock form?

- Anyway..any help would be great as im buying in the next 3 months.

:kick:

R34 Turbo from mem have round the 205 kw at the fly.

I looked into using prestige myself. There is always extra costs.

If it says 23000 g then i would allow probably up to 26,000 to get it on the road and fix all the little things.

Sounds good but just realise there will be more costs then what the price they state.

anyway good luck

I myself would go for the 32 gtr. but i would be lookin at the more expensive ones. like 30k . means less u have to do to it later and the condition will be better.

I thought so, its still a good deal importing, a GTR for just over 20k..

The R34 has a bit more power in stock form than I expected.. With a few mods it would do rather well..

4 Door R34 Turbo 5 speed in White.. thats my plan..

:D

4 doors are alot more pratical though. I had a 2 door r33 and it drove me insane.

Don't know about you, but I bought my car for ME, not for taxi'ing my mates around in the back :D

If they don't like it cramped then they can walk I say!

P.S. Go the 4door R34 - heaps newer, nicer, and can be pretty fast with the right mods too - not to mention the fact there aren't many around in perth at al!

yea no real difference in the 4 door insurance

is this the one your looking at on prestige ?

2000 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T 4-door Auto 83,000 White $24,500 21 Dec 04

cause its the only one I can find . if you want a different one budget a bit more for a manual . although the triptronic autos go quite well

True its an Auto, I thought it was manual..

triptronic autos are ok, but thats going to make me hold off.. a true manual would be what im after.

Mind me asking how much you picked up your 95 GTST 4 door for arkon? Import or local?

dunno about auto cause from mem if auto dies its a shitload more to fix than manual.

really depends on what you are going for becuase the R34 would be a cruiser car and going for the look thing while the GTR is flat out balls strip weapon..

Generally heaps of the GTRs that are coming in for around the $20K mark are heavily modded saving you money if you want more power later.

I'd personally go the GTR for GTR's sake.

14k from a dealer , freshly imported . it is also an auto but i budgeted a couple of grand extra for the manual conversion . you can easily get i nice 4dr r33 for 15k which makes them a bit of a bargain

    • Means something is not set up right, tune/calibration related.
    • Finally replaced the previous temporary mesh indicator surrounds (temporary was the last 10+ years 😂) with a 3D printed GTR style version for the front indicators. I think it looks a lot nicer than the old setup and at least the indicators now point in the correct direction rather than angled off. Needed a little bit of tweaking to deal with the intercooler piping but got there in the end. Old and new photos below.
    • It's weird to me that you say this because I'm pretty sure locals with relatively standard standalone tunes (boost/barometric compensated alpha-N) still have driveability issues when they pop intercooler hoses. Maybe with enough data I can just train some kind of model that spits out an expected grams/cyl given every sensor input except MAF like what FCA did with their Pentastar 3.6 ECU logic. Basically stock everything. The main motivation honestly is to have a sensor that can be a decent baseline source of truth. In scenarios you're describing obviously it won't work every time but it seems to me the number of corner cases that exist in MAF load is maybe not as severe and difficult to manage vs ITB alpha-N with some MAP/barometric compensation.
    • What are your plans for your blow off valves? Purely plumb back? How soft will the spring in them be? AFM can be tricky to get super smooth and nice, especially depending on the rest of the system, and then can be very easily upset if something slightly changes. IE, even if you run recirc blow off valves, you could still see issues getting it to behave at certain load points as turbos might start to spool, but you release the throttle but it's not enough pressure to crack the bov open to recirc, and you can end up with reversion which can cause double metering, and hence dumping of fuel into the system, and stalling the engine.   If you're going to run a map sensor for closed loop boost control from the ECU, what makes you want to keep the AFM?
    • It's not bad, it's just not flexible. And say if you have any leaks between the MAF and plenum, well then your load axis goes out the window. Here's a real world scenario, I blew off an intercooler hose last track day, as the clamp decided to Bluetooth itself somewhere. Still continued to do 2 laps and drive it to the pub for a couple of beers then home. Good luck doing that with a MAF setup
