I also thought it was illegal to have two policies on the same car as others have said. Would be interested to hear if it is not though. I am sure I have been asked this question when inquiring about insurance for cars before on the phone.

A couple of years ago I wanted to put my car into my old man's name so that it would be insured for theft, but not for any damage I caused. I thought this was fair enough, but I was told that, as an example, if I drove the car to a shopping centre and the car was stolen at that shopping centre, the car would not be covered as I was not a nominated driver.

This information was from Just Cars, by the way. In retrospect, it doesn't seem right. Maybe they just wanted me to sign up for comprehensive insurance.

ring up "famous", very helpful

i had my policy 21 y/o , 0% NCB (first time with insurance), Syd, currently on P's, r34 GTT

i think this is the worse case scenario around

anyways, my premium is $2700 + other costs, it was definatly the lowest around

however, with the current situation, it maybe a "bit" higher esp if you're in syd

if you cant afford full comp, try fire & theft insurance + a tracking system

however, either way, i would definately do it in my name because i wouldnt want any troubles making claims
