Hi just did a quick search and couldnt find this info. Are wheel sizes/offsets the same for coupes and sedans? What is the largest wheel/tyre combo that could fit under the guards without needing to to be pumped/flared? Im looking at getting some 18x8s, or is it better to just get some 17x8s and spend the savings on something else? Is it better to run 7.5in wide tyres up front and 8in wide tyres out back? or have the same width all round?

Any help would be appreciated

cheers

It would depend on the offset on the rims, but I have 18x9s all round on my series 1 and they fit fine.

With regards to different widths front and rear, you will get varying opinions. I find no problem with wide front rims. Power steering does all the work for you. Biggest thing I would say is tyre cost. The tyres that I had on mine were Bridgestone 265 G3's and when I had to replace all 4 they are $650 a pop. So went for falkens for almost half the price.

Thanks for the info

Well im going to assume that the coupe and sedan wheel sizes are the same, what size tyres are generally recommended for 8in wide wheels on a skyline? BTW what are cheap tyres that would fit 17x8s or 18x8s as i live in broome and the roads are crap, just chew new sets of tyres on gravel roads :).

I got the falkens because the amount of camber I am running chews the hell out of the inside inch or so of the tyre. The rest wears only about 10%!! So much for the bridgestone G3's I had. Tore them right through the steel belt. for the falken 265 ZR18's that I have I think they were about $350 each.

For an 8" rim you should be able to fit 235s or 245s no problem. I think falken are one of the cheapest. I have seen some cheapish dunlops too. Best bet is to go to local tyre dealers and check some prices.

you cannot get a straight answer for a questoin like that. It all depends on the offset, the height of the car etc.

An example. I had a set of 17 x 9.5 inch wheels at the back. they fit just perfectly to fill the guard. When I lowered it, it would scrape the guard. yet, r32 gtr rims are only 8 inches wide and do the same (this is offset). You could probably fit 22 inch wheels under there. MAybe even 24 inch if it's not lowered. Or if you raised it, you may be able to fit 30 inch wheels under there.

Whats the offset of your rims???

Ok sorry, maybe my question wasnt too clear, i was looking for the general idea of what will fit under the standard sedan guards and if i would have the ability to use the same sizes as those on the coupes, or if anyone had experience with large wheels on a sedan. I read a post where someone has the same car as mine with some suspension mods, and has R33 GTR wheels, which scrub at full lock. All my suspension and braking components are standard, so basically what can fit under there without flaring the guards/changing suspension, and wouldnt rub the tryres.

I got a S2 coupe with 17x8 38mm offset wearing Federal SS595 235/45 17's front and 17x9 38mm offset with SS595 255/40 17 rears. Stock suspension, no scrub, no rub, no probs.

At just over $200 for the rears and just under $200 for the fronts ( from Bob Janes with SAUQ discount) they're surprisingly good tires. My car used to spin the same size p5000 pirelli's without really trying but these just stick like glue.

If they use them on the 9 sec GTR that Brisbane Street Machines run, they are good enough for me...

can u fit 19 x 8" into a series 2 coupe line? or do u have to roll guards and stuff?
If you keep overall tire diameter the same and offset the same as say 17x8's there should not be a problem. except the cost of 245/30 zr19 tires or similar $$ouch$$

i got 18 x 10's on the rear with 285/30 tyres. I got the suspension set to like 2cms above the guard. I folded up the guards myself and they fit ok, i get the tyres scrubbing here and there when going over a bump. With 1 or more people in the back it scrapes way more though! if i had the suspension raised another 1 cm i think it would be ok but yeah the wide tyres are sick, good grip and look fat, they stick out the sides of the car.
