Hi Guys,

I have noticed that my gearbox whines, it has for some time now although its a little louder. When driving the engine noise covers it although if I put along at very low speeds in either 1,2 or 3rd it whines a bit.

The gearbox oil has always been changed regulary and it still feels nice changing gears.

What could be the problem???

Will i need to get another gearbox in the near future???

thanks

Mark

Are you SURE it's the gearbox? Both mine and RowdyR32's cars suffer from diff whine (his is worse :D).

Although ours is only really noticable in 5th gear, when cruising at certain speeds between 80-100 KPH, slow down or speed a couple of kays and it lessens?

Edit:

Oh and i should add, he changed oil, got it serviced (if they did anything), and still it whines... without replacing it, and you might get another whiner, you could have to live with it. :D

I think the bearing doesnt cost alot but the labour to do it will, because the bearing is inside the gerabox (correct me if im wrong).

I had a similar noise only when slowing down found out when rebuilding the engine that the crownwheel had nearly .5mm clearance!!
