hey guys, i just put on a new cheapie pod filter yesterday, and now my exhaust is loud again all of a sudden?? do u fink its related with the intake? the only other fing i can think that could cause a noise is maybe a leak in the exhuast?? dunno, how that would happen as i haven't gone over any bumps or anything recently.

my car was nice and relatively quiet after i fixed the exhaust, i didn't drive it for a couple of days, and then yesterday i put a pod on, and now the exhaust is definitely louder than usual, i can hear a bit of the old drone noise i use to get. any ideas?? i was thinking maybe somehow more air is getting in and it somehow effects it.. i dunno, i'm lazy to put the stock box back on to see :P

any opinions?

Only a guess, but sometimes they use fibreglass in mufflers, and sometimes steel wool.

The fibreglass can break up and gradually spew out the back in small pieces, causing an increase in noise. It happened to me once.

Have a look underneath for leaks, and if you cannot see anything obviously wrong, I would suspect your shiny new muffler.

thanks for the reply. just when i thought i had that exhaust at the right noise level. :) i'll get off my ass and take a look under to see if theres anything obvious.

so its got nothing to do with the pod i guess then. was hoping it'd be something easy like that. sure hope its not the muffler.

No not always. Almost always. Take the stock airbox out of your car and throw in a Pod filter, then try and tell me that you didnt notice any differences in noise.

How can a new pod filter make the exhaust louder? Well i didnt say that. Might want to re-read it.

You have never seen this effect. Well the obvious answer to that is that we are talking about sound. So unless you have something real special there, I don't think you can actually SEE sound.

:)
