I know how to do it but the bastard won't come out. I've hit the crap out of it (even with a mallet) and it won't budge. WD40 doesn't help either :)

any ideas?

you obviously have the nut off ??? (please say you do)just persist with side to side tapping with rubber mallet working your way around the rim of the wheel.

CerealK, try it at 10 o'clock 2 o'clock and 6 o'clock hitting perpendicular to the shaft axis.

Heel of your hand should be enough. Don't worry about fore and aft direction hits.

If all that fails park somewhere like a beach/shopping centre carpark, grab the wheel and shake the bejeesus out of it while making a noise like like a dying moose. You may get on telly. :)

Never know the wheel may pop off too.

"if in doubt, give it a clout".....just make sure that nut is still done up with plenty of thread.

the one on the GTR was damn tight to get off.

Agree with Drunken. The bigger the doubt, the bigger the clout. Try hitting it with the palm of your hands but not from the back, head on as if your trying to fit it back on. You need to do it rather quick to get some vibration happening to break the seal between the two metal surfaces.

By the way, hope u know if its a pre - '95 (pre series 1.5) Skyline, its actually illegal to remove the factory AIRBAG wheel ! so keep wishin !

If you looked a little more closely you would see that SK owns an R32 GTS-t....

I just recently removed the stock wheel on my R32 GT-R. It was fscking bitch to get off. In the end it took me yanking the top as hard as I could while my dad whacked the bottom with a rubber mallet.

Oh, and make sure you have the nut on a couple of turns so it doesn't fly in to your face :D

LW.

no no no you are doing it all wrong.... you have to hit it at exactly 2:43 and 9:57 (none of this 10 and 2 crap) it's the only way.

Or just drop down to UAS and borrow 2.5mins of their time...

Surely CerealKiller would have his steering wheel off by now, and the new one on??

I bought a steering wheel puller from autobarn and it came off shortly after that. It was still a hell of a fight to take it off even with the kit (I thought I snapped the centre bolt when the wheel popped off).

New wheel's on and it's good but the horn button is slightly different to the one I had. So no horn at the moment. I'm gonna see how much it is to get the old one re-trimmed, anyone had experience with this?
