ok, well the title says it all really...i need to remove a volk racing rim from a gtr but it has a centre cap on it that im not sure if it "pops" off or has to be screwed off or if i need some different tools. i dont want to force it and damage it. its in the shape of a big nut, kinda looking like a v8 super car nut.

thanks

I had a set of similar wheels a few years ago , the big nut was as you described. The wheels came with a large plastic spanner to remove the nut. It was only for show. If you don't have the spannertry wrapping a screwdriver in some cloth then try to pry the nut off.

I've got the same rims as you & the same problem. The large centre nuts on mine do not pry off, they are threaded & need to be unscrewed. I couldn't find a large enough spanner so i tried one of those oil filter remover thingys that wrap around the filter & then tighten. Guess what ..... they work brilliantly, the nuts are not on very tight & the thingy removes them easily ..... all this for $5 & I don't need to carry around a huge stilson in the boot.

haha nice!

yea i was wondering how a metal center cap would clip in

thanks for the help guys, il give it a go;)

Once you get the centre cap off ..... guess what .... there are 5 hex nuts requiring a special allen key to remove ??????? I'm starting to wonder whats next...
