I work for a local ISP and have plenty of storage space to burn with unlimited data yada yada.

I recently bought a '95 GTS-T and since then have found it hard to get ideas of what to do to my car because well there are no 'fantastcic' websites with pictures of 'real' skylines (as in under $40k) street type cars.

I've quickly thrown up http://skylines.pnc.com.au in the slight chance that people might want to have there very own pics hosted on a simple website where they can show there mates, gather ideas from other Skyline owners or simply for your 2mins of fame on the world wide web.

So if your interested, you might have 2 pics or 242 pics please visit the website and email them to me and i'll chuck em up.

The site aint much at the moment but with no content its hard to create, so the more you send the better it will be.

If there isn't much feedback i won't waste my time and effort but it would be great to get a large database of the awesome Skylines that i see here and there on this forum and others. Not looking to make the site a huge thing but 30 or 40 good Skylines would be fantastic no matter how little or much u can contribute.

Cheers.

Maybe after my exams finish on Dec 3rd I'll have a play around.

Maybe start with a simple textarea description + file upload input for pics. I'd have to install imagemagik to get the thumbnails through, prolly safe to leave the originals as-is because people want hi-res happy snaps.

What I really wanted to do though was to specify stock specs for cars in a database, so people adding their car could just pick what car they had. Then their "listing" or page inherits the stock specs, and they can override if (if they have mods). But that would be a real b*tch to code. I think if I do it I'll aim for something more acheivable.. just a database of stock specs (and none of the overriding stuff).

Just so you all know, we will have a gallery of SAU members cars on the front page of this site...

the front page design is being working on as we speak (big thanks to ex-static!!), then you will be able to submit a pic & details....

not to say you guys shouldn't set up your own galleries or anything!! just letting you know that this will be happening :(

If I make a script in Dec, I think a very acheivable list of features would be:

1) People sign up for a login (required to be able to manage their car's home page)

2) Admin backend to enter a bit of personal info (name, location, age, bio crap) + car's specs manager (make/model/blah) + photo manager (upload + script thumbnails). It shouldn't be too hard to faciliate multiple cars per login.

3) Public site, which at first can just list every member (and you click their name to see their page). Then when I spend more time on it, put in a search engine / voting system per car.

Problems encountered with the search engine are model names. You'll have people putting in "ECR33", "R33 GTST", "R33 GTS25T", "R33 GTS25-t", etc. It'll be a nightmare. So that means someone (maybe a volunteer) can spend an hour adding in makes and models so there is a discrete list to pick from.

*** so it's not like Drive.com.au where when you search for Skylines none of them stay in proper model categories, boy that pisses me off ***

Anyway, maybe you guys should post your ideas so it can be better thought out, and maybe one day it will eventuate.

Tim

*EDIT: had another good idea. Each car could have a checkbox "For sale" and an asking price field or something. Then in the public site search, people can tick "For sale cars only" or something.

I started working on the site that I spoke about a few messages above.

I am not going to touch it again until after Nov 28th, and only really finish it off after Dec 3rd (dates when my exams are).

Anyway, just working on a user admin (modify account details), then I'll work on the listing info. When that's done people will be able to add info about their cars, but no photos yet. Won't do the photo admin until after Dec 3rd.

Yeah he's an auto boy.

Unfortunately the car is at the smash repairs being fixed. He had the car no less then 3wks before it had a mechanical failure, throttle jammed wide open and it rammed through 2 cars. About $8.5k damage, he should get it back in around 2wks time.

Its 100% stock.

    • You've just discovered a really good reason to tell yourself, yes, I do need to buy an aftermarket ECU. Put the MAF in the bin. Slap in the new ECU and have a think about what turbo sounds you prefer.  Do you want a 90's style BOV wooosh? Do you want a hektik tsututututu?  Mate, can't go wrong. Just gotta get that ECU and the world is your oyster.
    • Hi. Iam just curisou about this topic. I saw this video. It is about Greddy Type FV2. I know that BoVs are about that sound but how and when to use it? I read some topic here and from what i have understand on stock RB with MAF there will be some "problems" if you use this BoV? It vents the air in to the atmosphere and the MAF on stock car needs this air back in to the intake and not out? Or is it wrong? If so...i saw you can put some adaptor to circule air back...but does that not "loose" that sound? I saw another BoV from Turbosmart and it has two "exhaust" like ports? One is for the stock tubing for letting air back and one is for "sound" and let the air in the atmosphere? Can someone please explain? This is the Greddy one:  And this is the Turbosmart.     THANK YOU!! EDIT: So i read about this topic some more and i if i understand that correctly: That Greddy can function either like BoV or 100% Bypass valve? And that Turbosmart is what they called hybrid so you can adjust what and how many air can be vented out or back in? Is this right? THX!
    • That dirty voltage drop is the culprit I suspect
    • i cant get them all in 1 screenshot unfortunately as i just dont know how to move things around tbh, but they are all from the same log and the line crosses at the same point for all of them
    • It's about time I start work on my sun tan. So I knocked up a few parts that will all combine together to become my new power steering reservoir. Now just to produce an abundance of UV and IR rays while melting a heap of bits of alu to become one... Well, that's after I put one more hole in it for the return line to plumb to. It likely won't be this weekend, as Sunday I'm meant to be in doing some last minute stuff to the AMG race car, and the weekend after will be filled with non my Skyline stuff, followed by Bathurst 6 hour. So I don't expect to get to melt metal for at least 3 weeks.   I also managed to stuff up and start cutting the hole for the res to pump pipe on the wrong side of the line... It means instead of the lines being nice and tight against the inner guard, they'll be out off the guard.    The size of it means I should end up with about 1.8L of power steering fluid, and still have space for another half a litre before it reaches the overflow/breather. This is wayyyyyyy more capacity than factory, which should help keep Powersteer oil temps lower, and the design hopefully allows it to prevent any aerated oil being able to makes its way down to the bottom as it'll have a couple of baffles and some hopeful trickery to force air bubbles away from the bottom.
