rb20 problems

i hve an r32 with an rb20 and just recently i removed teh clutch fan and installed a 16" thermo and now it seems fine till bout 5 grand and then it loses all power and starts spluttering can ne 1 help me plz

Could be spark plugs, coils ?

Electrical: Some sort of missfire from arking out wires, short circuirts ?

what boost are you running?

could just be a misfire as stated above becuase the clutch fan is in no way connected to how the air/fuel is ignited

thus, is probably a coencidence

excess heat can sometimes cause misfiring... but its more likely you've disconnected one of the sensors, or damaged a wire or something during fitting it. Where is the termo fan getting its power from? do you have a regulator in there to speed it up or down at different revs?

Check your piping, did u disconnect intercooler piping to install the fan?

personally I'd stay away from thermo fans, having heard some bad reports- but they do work for some people.

the ecu engine coolant temp sensor is either not connected or has gone bad, check it.

i have 2 12" thermos on mine and have had no problem whatsoever

yes the intercooler piping was removed was runing 15 psi before hand then back to 10 and then to 12 and made very little difference

i think i have the exact same problem... I have checked all the usual stuff and have decided to give it to the experts... It goes in for a diagnostic tune next week

out of interest how many sensors are there on a rb20?

telling ya, its the engine temp coolant sensor.

i had the same problem on my rb20 and the sensor had gone bad and was reading out of range and the ecu was going into safe mode and wouldnt allow the engine to rev past 5k and if it did it would stutter like it was hitting a revlimiter.
