excess heat can sometimes cause misfiring... but its more likely you've disconnected one of the sensors, or damaged a wire or something during fitting it. Where is the termo fan getting its power from? do you have a regulator in there to speed it up or down at different revs?

Check your piping, did u disconnect intercooler piping to install the fan?

personally I'd stay away from thermo fans, having heard some bad reports- but they do work for some people.

telling ya, its the engine temp coolant sensor.

i had the same problem on my rb20 and the sensor had gone bad and was reading out of range and the ecu was going into safe mode and wouldnt allow the engine to rev past 5k and if it did it would stutter like it was hitting a revlimiter.
