Hello all. My name is Konstantin my friends call me Kon. I drive a 86 Nissan 300ZX 2+2 N/A. For the record I live in Houston, Texas so Skylines are not around and noone truly knows anything about them so thats why I'm here. I talked with a man who said he could install a RB26DETT in my 300ZX. I'm really happy with my decision to go with this motor because I know its great quality and performs very well. I just want to say hello and I hope to learn alot from you guys.

Just try and get yourself a healthy motor with compression ratio's close to stock.

Thats my tip.

Welcome!

Petar.

ah dude 20,000kms is very low

20,000kms i am sure someone will correct me as i am dodgy with my ratios but like 12,500 miles

also the only thing you have to keep in mind is parts are going to be bloody hard to find quickly going off that fact that no one has one over their. But if you do get it going in to the 300 it will be one hell of a beast

Hey Kon, Welcome dude. An FYI.

We have a recently imported Silver 300ZX at the local garage registering 540 rwkwz on the Dyno sheet. Have not had a ride in it Yet!, but apparently scarey fast according to those who have!

Also a nice Purple and lightening bolt paint job on the RB26DETT motor/engine bay.

I've seen just such a conversion in a 300ZX,and it rocked! RB26DETT? Nissan's finest,I'd say! That motor, with such low kilometers on it,will be a GOOD thing! Post some photo's while you're building or when it's done!

I have a 93 Toyota Camry as my DD so thats nto a huge problem, its still a problem but def. one im willing to deal with to have this motor. Also I thought KM was half as much as miles. But then again 55MPH is like 90km/h. I'm not very good at this kind of stuff.

Another question jsut out of curiosity(sp?). Will the Master cylinder from a Skyline fit on the Z or will i have to use a 300ZX master cylinder or custom?

Miles to Kilometers multiply 1.609

Kilometers to Miles multiply 0.621

um ahh '86 300zx? so is that a Z31? you'd be better off finding yourself a nice clean 200zr (yes ZR, the Z31 that came with a stock RB20DET) and then transplanting an RB26DETT engine into it. Both ate topfeed engines, so the transplant should be relatively easier than into a v6 zed.

If you must go down the v6 -> straight 6 conversion path, then you'd be wise to source parts such as engine mounts etc from a 200ZR, once I get back to the office, I'll scan up a jap artice on a 200ZR with an RB26DETT... nice as... and fast like hell's fury.
