Eight Mile Plains....maybe that's the problem..they can check imports but not locally sold cars :)

I'm talking about a Nabira wagon, the reason it was taken to a 3rd party was to confirm that after 2 months with the dealer...the car was still f#$ked. Because after 'repairing' it the dealer is trying to get their money, but it's not happening as the it's still screwed!

A certain 3rd party was asked to inspect said gearbox, confirm that it had a stall speed of about 100rpm!!! And give us a report to hand back to the dealer.....but the went on their merry way did something completely different, then offered to fabricate some details on the full mechanical.

The problem with this was the dealer will argue that the fee for the check will not be covered as they did other things to the car as well, they'll just pay a percentage. But it's not too much of a drama cause the 3rd party didn't get paid either :D

As for saying the windscreen wipers don't work WTF? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to operate that little lever!

hey del sol, does your honda have any mods when inspected and does it have 4ws or any other things that arent on normal australian built cars. thats probably the difference + your honda was australian delivered arent they. so they would just treat it like a honda civic or the likes. 666 DAN - my parents used to own a daewoo nubira sedan 2000 model as well, the blinkers and the wiper are back the front on them arent they from what i recall coz they are based on a euro car. coz every time i first drove it to turn a corner i used the wipers! i bet uve done that as well!

well as for using the inspections center at Eight Mile Plains,

I had my surf checked over by them & they didn't miss a thing, I got 2k off the price of the 4B & a new set of wheels & tyres.

The ones on it were not Oz approved other then that it was great full written report with compression test & every thing, I did pay ofer $150 but it was a 4x4 so mmmmmm.

As for road side assist just watch some of the guys not all but some have no clue, Was out with a mate in his 13B rotor & it blew a side seal.

I didn't know enought about them at that stage to know my self so we called up & ask for the guys to come take a look, the guy turns up & asks us the norm questions & then says try starting it, after that he says to us

"ah there your problem mate looks like it has droped a compression ring on one of the cyclinders thats why it will not start"

we were like a but it dose not have cyclinders ?????? WTF

so yeah just becarefull of what some of the road side guys tell u :D

We had a bloke come into work telling us he had a craked head. I said "sure we can fix it for you but I wanna do some tests first". He said ok. I asked him who told him about the cracked head and he told me that the car overheated and water was leaking inside the car. So he called RACQ and the guy came out, identified the leak in the heater core and re-routed the heater hose back onto itself. Then he said the guy told him that because it got hot that he would have cracked the head. So I put the gas analyser onto the radiator and it read no gases. I did a teekay test and still nothing. I did a cooling system pressure build test and a normal pressure test and still good. I showed the guy everything I did and explained everything in full. It took 10 minutes.

This is obviously not the first time I have heard this type of thing about RACQ. And I am allowed to say it as it is actual statements from customers.

My advice to anyone is. They have a hard job anyway so I'm not knocking them for their methods but don't believe everything they tell you. Always get a second opinion unless you know and trust the mechanic working on your car.

ie. Lady came to us in tears coz she couldn't afford the engine rebuild she was told she would need by them (she had called them up coz her engine was making a funny noise). They told her the bearings were gone. It turned out to be a sticky hydraulic lifter which we fixed by doing an oil flush and oil change.

    • Im loving this thread. I have a g35/900 t4 split 1.00 ar going on my rb30/25 with 9:1 and 264 cams. its drive by wire and with vct i think it should spool nicely. I have the 8speed gearbox on the floor ready to go on so full boost changes will be a thing if the tyres can deal with it. it should always be on boost
    • The trouble for me is the automatic takes away so much from it. And the E92 has hydraulic power steering. Even after putting in an LSD you're looking at re-mapping the xDrive to be more like a Skyline which is just a lot of effort for something that is supposed to be easier and cheaper. I consider the E92 335i 6MT to basically be the obviously superior car to something like an R34 GTT. Half the price out here, the N54 makes so much more power so easily, is a far more refined car, etc. You do have to deal with the nightmare of the N54's foibles vs the B58 which is comparatively miles better and if a turbo does fail it's only one of them vs two and a lot less pipe spaghetti.  996 or 997 Turbo has the AWD system mapped like a Skyline. Basically always RWD unless engaging the front axle makes sense. A coworker let me drive his 997.2 Turbo 6MT and it's absolutely tremendous. I don't think I'd want more power in a street car.
    • I'm purely suggesting, what every multinational business out there presently does! And the world governments all day it's legal.
    • That's awesome. Fully serviced/full log book history for one of those cars is super rare from what I know. With JDM's like Skyline's, Supras, are quite hard to find one with full log book history. S15's seem to be somewhat of an exception, at least the spec s australian delivered models.
    • Hey all, It's been a bit since I have been able to update.  I pulled the fuel pump, first off it was a "universal" pump and the strainer was very clogged, and it was folded over on itself.  I replaced the fuel pump and all is well....  No more stalling.
