wanting to buy another skyline again. There are a few gtrs (looking at the r33's) that have 350+ awkw. Ive never driven one, so question is to those who have.

Are they easy to drive with upgraded clutch etc. in city traffic. Is lag severe, when does boost come on approximately. Are they reliable long term or do they become money pits.

Any other comments welcome

Cheers

Oz.

350 isnt all that much is it really. its a nice figure for just about anything. i would think the big lag would come with something with a big single

i drove a nice 33 the other day with hks gtrs's and it was sweet. not too sure on its power figure tho but i it seemed up there.

it had a carbon twin plate which i thought was one of the nicest clutches i've drive with. i want one. boost was almost instant. or 3000rpm there abouts.

Any turbo car pulling above 300kw@ the wheels isn't going to be that nice to drive in traffic. If it isn't the lag it'll be the boost when it kicks. In short in might be manageable but i'd rather tootle around in a stock "normal" car.

I'm not sure why someone would want something that powerful for traffic type use anyway...

btw A GTR *is* a money pit. Any performance car in that class is. Make no mistake. No one buys one for the fuel economy, cheap insurance or running costs.

I've recently bought a GTs-t with similar power from an RB26 and its not THAT bad.

Its pretty laggy, the clutch is a bit of a bitch if your sloppy with it(in the wet it'd be wheelspin city - HKS Twin Plate), but even with 272 cams down low it doesnt buck around or anything.

Does drink the fuel, and certainly wouldnt want to drive it everyday.

Mine drives fine on stock turbos running around 260rwkw biggest bitch is the clutch, and i don't think it be much difference to some small low mounts pushing out 300-350rwkw...

test drive the cars, see if you think you could drive it in traffic everyday... I agree with you some good cars out there with good mods for a good price

ive been driving mine with about 400awkw and never had a problem in traffic as the os giken twin plate ist as harsh as some, as for fuel economy "theres no such thing with my gtr" also boost starts about 4500rpm till about 9k

I've been driving with around 400rwkw (around 370ish awkw I guess) and I don't have any problems except the noise of the exhaust pi$$ing off people when I warm the car up in the mornings.

The clutch is fine but can be a bit tedious in the middle of the city. Even with the custom twin plate, everything is acceptable considering the power it's pushing.

Leewah, i think you need a tilton 3plate carbon clutch to solve the problems :D

I drive my 400rwkw gtr r33 most day and it drive fine on low boost setting you wouldn't know the difference to a low hp gtr (lag not at all)high you better hang on , the issues with lag depend on the turbo choice you can gain the hp you want from smaller turbo and keep good responce ,clutch if you buy or use a good brand it will not be an issue. Reliability depends as much on your driving habits and servicing as anything ,350kw can be happly obtained and maintain on std internals maybe for piece of mind you could go forged internals.

Why would I need that if my custom built Jim Berry twin plate is serving me better than the 2 previous triple plate clutches ever did.

For the cost of a Tilton triple carbon, I could have bought 2.5 Jim Berry clutches.

yes but you've havn't driven it much have you? Try putting up with it everyday!

The biggest hurdle would have to be the clutch. I've driven Franks white R33 GTR (2530's) on the spurs and that had nice Xtreme sprung button type clutch on it that was very easy to drive.

Dunno about driving it everyday tho....

Shiv...I was blown away by just how driveable Leewahs cars was:thumbsup: It was no louder then my car, it was no laggier then my, it rode nicer...i thought the hting was very driveable. From the passenger seat the clutch didnt seem too bad at all, but that assumption could be massivley wrong, bu tit didnt shudder / jerk etc etc...and you have driven my car so there is a point of reference:)
