hey all, i tried abit of a search but to no avail..

Im wishing to lower my ride, and im guessing the options are springs and shocks or coilovers.. i dont think theres much value in placing different shocks and springs in, probably reduce the handling performance.. so i should get coilovers which will enhance it..

i want ones that will be perfect for dropping the ride height and very soft for street use.. whats your opinions??

i think the consensus is billstiens with king springs from what ive read on the forums.

When I was talking to Chris at Centreline suspension, he strongly suggested Koni's over Bilsteins for street use, he's had a lot of Bilsteins come back very worn after street use. However for the track, he said the exact opposite is true.

And Whiteline springs offer more choices of rates. Could look into Whitline Group 4 coil overs, they are quite expensive at around $2200 trade, the sales rep said to expect a price drop soon however.

I got Bilsteins from Quadrant in Vic for around $1G, then probably $400 for a set of 4 kings springs (can't remember exactly).

Bilsteins give a VERY firm ride - you might want the Quadrant guys to soften them up a bit for you.

I will always keep buying full set of suspension, which include spring.

as the shock have to meet a fix spring rate to perform the best, else it will under rebound or over, hence bad cornering and increase worm.

LOL nothing:) My understandign is that all Skylines have coil overs std, as opposed to struts/leaf springs etc etc.

But when ppl refer to coil overs they normally mean coil over shocks with height adjustable platforms:)

Suggest Konis for the road, Bilsteins for the track. Konis are damping adjustable, you might need to revalve the Bilsteins to get a nice road ride. Have heard Billy's are a bit harsh for the street otherwise. Don't go below 350mm hub to guard or you'll run into alignment probs and need adjustable susp bits to compensate.

Make sure your bump stops are in good nick and the right type also. Many people forget about the bumpstop.

Talk to Toperformance in Melbourne, East Coast or Heasman's suspension in Sydney, or call Kings springs in Qld, they in particular are very helpful. And if someone says 'yeah these springs are 20% stiffer' as salesmen are likely to do, ask them WHAT THAT MEANS TO YOU. If they tell you it's just stiffer, ask them to explain what you will notice and if they can't tell you apart from the bleeding obvious 'firmer ride' go elsewhere. They should tell you that a 20% increase in stiffness is about the point where you'll start to notice a difference. At least that gives you some indication of seat of the pants feel.
