Hi guys and girls,

Just need to know what the standard rev limiter is for an RB20DET :wassup: . As i have been told 2 different things.

One mechanic told me it was 7,850rpm while the other told me 7,100rpm. :bs!:

Any help on this would be great.

The standard R32 GTST tacho reads a bit high, I have seen 8,250 rpm before the rev limiter cuts in. So I suspect 7,750 rpm is probably close.

So would it be safe to assume that 8,000rpm would be a suitable place to change at?

Also the RB20 revs alot higher than the RB25 that stops at 7,1000-7,2000???

we had ours set at 7100 because after that it isnt making much power and there more chance of hurting the engine.

mine is set to 7850rpm.

I have an aftermarket ECU where you can set the rev limiter, and its interesting to see because its set at 7850rpm, but the tacho will go past 8000rpm, meaning the tacho obviously doesnt read 100% true...

I know people who have set their rev limiter to 8,200 on RB20s... but i dont see the point in doing that, 7850rpm is the stock rev cut, so i just leave it there =)

O i see,

Because mine has also been chipped and it is set to 8,000rpm yet i don't want to do any damage to the car.

I also have a slightly bigger turbo so the power doesn't wash off. It just pulls like a train all the way to redline

also i keep it at 8000rpm because it makes power to there and when i shift gears it brings me closer to my peak torque curve for the next gear.

If it didnt make power up there tho and i had a larger midrange i would make the redline like 7500...
